Was Sailor's Treason Inspired by Moonbattery?
The association between moonbattery and treason is clear on any cursory review of prominent Democrats or left-wing media outlets. It may also explain the case of Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Ariel Weinmann, who was fortunate enough to be sentenced to only 12 years in prison, instead of the death sentence he richly deserves for desertion and for selling classified information to undisclosed foreign governments.
Weinmann was reportedly "disillusioned" with the Navy and with the Bush Administration's foreign policy. He wants to live in another country.

VH, thanks for the shout out...
Turns out that he tried to sell a manual on the operation of the Tomahawk missile system in exchange for assylum in Russia. See this site:

From the little I've read, this guy became disillusioned with the Navy because he had envisioned the military to be more like the Navy depicted in WW2 flicks (and am assuming like the very realistic battle software out there depicting soldiers as noble liberators). Also, one or two of his foreign contacts weren't particularly impressed with the info he offered. In fact one of them laughed at him after hearing this soldier's pitch. Sounds like he was out of touch, bored and looking for adventure. It's too bad. He's a good-looking boy and he's going to waste the prime of his life in the brig. Then he'll truly be bored and disillusioned.

Our soldiers ARE noble liberators for the most part. Most of them are very proud of doing what they are doing.

Here's hoping he loves turning big rocks into little rocks. What a turd.
