Was Sailor's Treason Inspired by Moonbattery?

The association between moonbattery and treason is clear on any cursory review of prominent Democrats or left-wing media outlets. It may also explain the case of Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Ariel Weinmann, who was fortunate enough to be sentenced to only 12 years in prison, instead of the death sentence he richly deserves for desertion and for selling classified information to undisclosed foreign governments.

Weinmann was reportedly "disillusioned" with the Navy and with the Bush Administration's foreign policy. He wants to live in another country.
