This year local authorities estimate the number may exceed 16,000! Some are addressed to the detainees by name or by their detainee number, available on the Pentagon website. Most are simply addressed to “Any Detainee at Guantanamo.”

The back of the card closes with, "May the miracle of Christmas help bring peace to this young woman and her wounded land."

So, now it's a slam against Israel as well. After all, if it wasn't for Israel, there would be peace in the Middle East. You know, just like the Muslims are getting along famously in Iraq.

Does he not understand that Islam is incompatible with Christianity? Now, maybe he is suggesting that Muslims need to wake up to the fact that they're following a false god, and that only with Christ can they find true peace. It's a possibility, but I'm doubtful.

I am dumbfounded by the absolute idiocy of people in this country who do everything they can to try and appease Muslims. A Christmas card with a Muslim woman? Will he send out Ramadan cards with a Jew on them? Maybe Hajj cards featuring cross-dressing Muslims trekking towards Mecca.

Why do these people fawn or Islam and Muslims when they do everything they can to drag Christianity and Christ's name through the mud? Just who attacked us on September 11, 2001 (and of course numerous other occastions)?

The governor is a painter. He painted this particular portrait while visiting American troops in Afghanistan. The woman met with the governor and told her how thankful she was that Americans had liberated her from the Taliban and that she was now able to go to school.

Gov Bredesen's use of that painting on the card shows the spirit of sacrifice American troops are making for others -- kinda the true meaning of Christmas, don't ya think?

Meanwhile, the leader of the protests against the card is a "preacher" who spent eight years in a Texas prison for First Degree Murder. D. Maury Davis went to prison at 18 and suddenly "found religion" which helped him gain an early release.

Lessee, whiney, murderer or tribute to the troops' sacrifice.
