Pete Townshend: I Was a Muslim Mystic in a Former Life
You may recall that aging pop star Pete Townshend was cleared of child pornography charges on the strength of his claim that he only looked at kiddy porn for research purposes, hoping that if he had been abused as a child it would jog his memory so that he could write about it in his autobiography. (He remains on a national list of sex offenders.)
Now Townshend's memory has received a different kind of jog: he claims to remember that he was a Muslim mystic in a previous life. According to Townshend, this explains the windmill thing he does with his arm while playing guitar on stage.
It may also explain the whole child porn thing. After all, Mo did like them young.

While I find his rantings silly on occasion, the truth is, Townshend has done a lot to fight against child porn. He did a very stupid thing visiting that site, but I don't believe he went there looking for the stuff. The fact that they found nothing except a very few automatically cached images on his computer supports that.
I suppose it doesn't help that I like his music. Oh well. At least he's not doing a Cat Stevens impersonation. And, lets be fair, Sufism is very unlike the rest of Islam. It's highly philosophical, rejecting most of the core tennets of Islam proper (and has been declared as apostasy as a result). It's probably going to be the best source of an islamic enlightenment, if such a thing is even possible. He could have picked much worse.

. . . do Muslims teach reincarnation?!?!?!!?
I never heard mention of this

Todd, probably not. Dollars to donuts his "Sufism" is about as authentic and accurate as the Eastern mysticism of various stripes worn by the Worst Generation back in the 1960s...prolly more of a grab-bag syncretism of shallow, feel-good "spirituality" from a variety of sources.
