NYC Birth Stats Suggest Grim Future

According to New York City's latest release of vital statistics, there were 88,891 reported abortions in the city in 2005. When babies were allowed to live, Medicaid paid for 52% of the births. An appalling 44% of women giving birth weren't married.

And so social decay and government dependency are passed from one generation to the next.

Will we learn from NYC's example or follow it?

having worked for the welfare system in californistan for a few years - i can tell you there are fourth and fifth generation welfare cases everywhere.

there is little or no incentive to get off.

i was also, for a short time, in the system myself - a young, single mother. but i used IT to get me where i was going. i did receive child support regularly and they supplemented my income. i put myself through two years of college and paid back my student loan. it was far more important to become a productive member of society than a dead branch that needed to be pruned.

there ought to be a time limit as to how long people can receive aid of ANY sort! and if you have a child and are on aid and you get pregnant and have an abortion while on aid - they should take the snippers to your tubes at that time. no more unwanted babies that way.

Let's see, the government pays people to stay poor and have babies. Why are we surprised that people choose to stay poor and have babies?
