Mayor Mike Sues Out-of-State Stores For Selling Their Wares

NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg is really getting carried away with his jihad against our right to bear arms. He has been suing gun dealers who are not located in New York City or even New York State but Georgia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Virginia for selling weapons that came to be confiscated by the NYPD.

Twelve dealers were named in the suit. Each sold a gun to a team of undercover investigators who wore hidden cameras. Imagine: a sting operation to prove that gun dealers deal guns. I'm sure the police have had more difficult — not to mention more useful — assignments.

Inmates of the People's Republic of New York now face a mandatory minimum sentence of 3 1/2 years for illegal gun possession.

Someone get this moonbat a copy of the Second Amendment.

It just shows what lengths liberal politicians will go to to keep law abiding citizens disarmed. The hero of many Republicans, Rudy Giuliani, is also anti-gun.

Are you kidding me? Can you even process a single bit of information without flying off the deep end? These guys were getting punished for making ILLEGAL gun deals. I mean, are you retarded? What next, an angry post about New York cracking down on heroine dealers?

Posted by: Insanity at December 8, 2006 7:33 AM

It's unclear by the article if the dealers actually sold the guns illegally or if perhaps they were sold legally and then got into the hands of thugs who shouldn't have had them.

Thank you, Pam. Who's flying off the deep end, Insanity?

Posted by: Van Helsing at December 8, 2006 7:50 AM

i live in new york, and i would love to own a gun legally, since all the criminals walk around town with them in there waist bands. The liberals here have made it insane.

I live right here in Syracuse, where there are multiple muggings every week. In previous years, these were usually unarmed muggings perpetrated by groups. Now, armed individuals are accounting for more and more muggings. Anything Mayor Bloomberg does to crack down on illegal gun possession is perfectly acceptable to me--but then again, I like living better than some misinterpreted Second Amendment.

So, Insanity wants to make sure that criminals are the only ones who have guns. She is certainly living up to her nickname.

When did I say anything remotely like what you accuse me of saying? Do you need help reading the big words (like "live" or "illegal")?

I want to make sure no one has illegal guns. So does Mayor Bloomberg. To disagree with cracking down on illegal gun ownership is so very unbelievably ignorant, I'm not sure how to respond to it.

When you pass laws making it illegal for citizens to own guns, who will own guns, people who obey the law or people who don't?

Have you ever considered that maybe the reason armed muggers feel free to prey on the citizens of Syracuse is that they know none of their victims will shoot back?

Hay Insanity, Criminals don’t fallow the law!!! You can pass all the gun laws you want and a mugger is no more likely to abide by the latest gun law than he is to abide by the ones pertaining to robbery. I live in Syracuse too, they past a law that all handguns in the city limits had to have trigger locks on them at all times. Am I to believe that Joe crack dealer is all of a sudden going to start putting a lock on his illegal gun? Crooks prefer unarmed victims, they alwasy have. England has virtually no legal gun ownership, violent crime there is out of control and there are still more than 3 million guns in the hands of crooks. The best defense against some one with a gun is a gun, why do you think the police carry them? I hope you aren’t one of those people who thinks the police will always be there to keep you safe.

Hmmm...

I wonder if Florida can bring a lawsuit against the State of New York for exporting its crazy-assed drivers, thus making US Highway 19 in Pasco County the most dangerous stretch of road in the United States....

I don't at all understand Insanity's point. Are you stating, for the record, that you believe that making it illegal for people to own guns will make CRIMINALS not own them?

Do you believe that a crook will have the moral fiber to obey the gun law, while mugging some old lady for her purse?

Do you believe that there is no criminal network that buys and sells guns on the black market?

Do you honestly believe that criminals can't find a place to buy a gun outside of the normal system?

Gee, they manage to find crack and heroine, I'm pretty sure those are still illegal, right? But finding a gun will suddenly be impossible because they pass a law outlawing it?

hhmmmm...

Those criminal types are a lot more clever than people give them credit. I saw, on Mythbusters no less, an full-auto pistol made entirely out of plumbing materials. There was a recent case here in the UK of a huge raid on an illegal gun manufacturing plant. It was a criminal enterprise throughout. Legal range-shooting weapons were imported from Germany and converted in to assault rifles, pistols and other such nastiness capable of taking life. They were being used throughout the entire country, and this had been going on for several years. This is the reason my city is nicknamed Gunchester.

I could, if I wanted, walk in to a cool shop I know in central manchester, buy a non-functioning replica weapon and convert it in to a real killing weapon, or I could buy a range-shooting pistol and convert it in to a fully-functional gun. Better yet, downstairs I have a pair of cap-fired nailguns that could be converted to shoot bullets without too much difficulty. They'd be one-shot affairs but it shouldn't be too hard to ad some sort of auomatic reloading mechanism. They wouldn't even look like guns.

In the 50s and 60s, in Liverpool, it was common for certain criminal gangs to go at each other with axes, which they carried at all times. They were just plain wood-cutting axes, about 5ft in length, with a large single-sided head. The government made them illegal. Said criminal gangs are now in the habit of carrying large, sharpened shovels with them. They're useless for cutting trees, but that was never the point.

If you're a criminal, guns are easy to find, easy to keep and easy to hide from prying eyes. I could hide those nailguns in plain sight and n obody would know what they were. If you're law-abiding and guns are illegal, you're at the mercy of the criminal with the illegal guns. It's simple as that.

In the sixties, I remember reading in the paper about how the NATIONAL GUARD armory was robbed of dozens of pistols, rifles, MACHINEGUNS and RECOILESS RIFLES (Cannons). They even stole trucks to carry the guns away!
As a matter of interest, both Hiram Maxim and John Browning made their first machineguns from lever-action Winchester rifles. No problem converting guns at all.
