Good News and Bad on House Intelligence Chair
The good news is that we dodged the bullet of Nancy Pelosi's first choice, the impeached judge Alcee Hastings, as Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee. The bad news is that we traded corruption for incompetence.
Pelousy's second choice, Silvestre Reyes (D-TX), has flunked an easy test on al-Qaeda and Hezbollah — two of the main Islamic terror groups against which it will be his responsibility to defend us. Reyes thinks Osama bin Laden et al. are Shiites, and doesn't seem to know much about Hezbollah either.
Notes CQ National Security Editor Jeff Stein:
If you're the baseball commissioner and you don't know the difference between the Yankees and the Red Sox, you don't know baseball. You're not going to have the respect of the people you work with.
Unless of course you're working with people who have been making it clear since well before 9/11 that they couldn't care less about defending us from Muslim terrorists.

His nomination doesn't have anything to do with defending us, it's just politics; political favors. The dems are playing with their new "toys". It's like kids playing a game and picking players:
"you be in charge of intelligence, you be in charge of ethics, you be in charge of ways and means".
"No way, I wanted to be in charge of ethics".
"Okay, Jimmy wants ethics, who's got ways and means?"
A fly on the wall might hear the words "one potato, two potato, three potato, four...".
