Andrew Sullivan: Bush Sr. Wept For Oppressed Terrorists
The noisily homosexual "conservative" Andrew Sullivan continues to astound with his capacity for self-parody. Remember when Bush Sr. got choked up the other day while talking about his son Jeb's noble behavior? As Sully credits a reader with commenting "perceptively":
First a few words about Jose Padilla. Without a doubt, the methods used on him are torture. They are not physically harming him, instead they seem bent on psychically damaging him. A mind can be broken using just sleep deprivation, alternating bright lights and total darkness, control of diet, and plain old boredom — especially over a three year period, with no assurance that this couldn't continue for ever.
I saw pictures of Padilla's treatment right after I watched the video of Bush 41 breaking down while speaking about Jeb Bush in Florida. I then imagined for a moment that it was my own son, instead of Bush 43, who had tortured Padilla. I think I know now why Bush 41 broke down.
In other words, Bush Sr. is actually a moonbat, and he was crying not because he's proud of his son, but because he feels sorry for the mollycoddled terrorists whom sympathetic liberals regard as put-upon.
No wonder Time and CNN want Sully on their team.

I used to think Sully had become deranged as a result of his AIDS medication. Now, I think he was simply brain-damaged during an especially rough round of buggery.

Who said Sullivan was a conservative?

Who said Sullivan was a conservative?
Why, Sully did. In fact, Sully will tell you that real conservatives, like him, support massive tax increases and court-imposed same-sex marriage.

No way! Real conservatives support torture, right guys?!

Insanity is defining "Torture" as any discomfort of even temporary duration complained about by a terrorist, as Sully does.
In Sully's world, any interrogation that gets more severe than asking "pretty please with sugar on it," is torture.

V the K, what you've said is simply untrue and unsupported. I don't know why you wouldn't take the idea of torture seriously. George Bush's refusal to demand an end to torture by our own military is decimating our nation's credibility, seriously hanidcapping our ability to use diplomacy to end the Iraq war.

Insanity,
You can't be diplomatic with people who think their God is returning to end western civilization and spread Islam throughout the world (Al Sadr, et. al.). Nor do you negotiate with people who vow extermination of a country in the name of God. Get your head out of the sand and stand behind your country!

I think Insanity might be a faux troll. "Fishmonger" is what Hamlet called himself when he was acting insane. Also, the spelling and punctuation is better than that of the typical drug-addled left-winger who usually spouts similar idiocy.

So, if you don't negotiate with them, you what? Wipe them off the face of the earth?
The exact thing you criticize them for wanting to do to us?
Standing behind your country blindly is not the same as standing up for it with eyes wide open. I know my country has laws against torture, and my country would never go to war on false pretenses. We were absolutely justified in our decision to invade Afghanistan, but the same is not true for Iraq. We had an opportunity to foster a model democracy in Afghanistan, but instead we invaded Iraq and threw the entire region much much deeper into their quagmire. We blew it for them and for ourselves.
The answer, then, lies in admitting our mistakes. Humility can go a long long way in easing relationships, and humility does not have to equate to cowardice or surrender. It means surrendering hubris, and looking for the best possible solution, which the Iraq Study Group has kindly reminded us lies partially at least in diplomacy.

humility does not have to equate to cowardice or surrender.
Unless humility means quitting the fight and letting enemy achieve their objectives, as the ISQ is counseling us to do.
the best possible solution, which the Iraq Study Group has kindly reminded us lies partially at least in diplomacy.
Diplomacy, in this case, means concessions to terror states like Iran and Syria, which are run by tyrants who want to wipe Israel and the United States off the face of the Earth.
Insanity indeed.

The post by Sullivan is a bit kooky but accusing Sullivan of supporting massive tax increases is a bald-faced lie. The only tax increase I've ever seen support is one on gasoline and that as a way to reduce demand for foreign oil and send less money to states that support terrorism. Whatever you think of gay marriage, Sullivan's fiscal conservative bonafides make George W. look like Tip O'Neal.

Insanity,
War is hell. And if it's them or me, I'm voting for me each and every time.

Sullivan never objects to any massive Federal spending program that suits his agenda, like for example, AIDS research. He also endorsed John Kerry for president in 2008 after Kerry proposed $2.3 Trillion in additional spending above and beyond even Bush's insane levels. Sullivan is a "fiscal Conservative," the way Madonna is an "observant Catholic."
So, right after you say it's a "bald-faced lie" that Sullivan called for a massive tax increase, you then admit that Sullivan called for a massive tax increase. That is a curious definition of lying, i.e. asserting as fact something that actually happened. I wonder what you make of the statement, "I did not have sex with that woman."
And, you forget that when Sullivan called for his massive gasoline tax increase, he also asserted that he wouldn't be paying it because he doesn't drive. Wanting to raise everyone else's taxes is a position typical of liberals.

Correction, Sullivan endorsed John Kerry in 2004, after Kerry pledged to massively increase the rate of Federal spending beyond the already insane levels of the Bush administration.
