Alberto Gonzales Demands That New York Town Elect Hispanics
In the most appalling example of race-based moonbattery to come out of the Bush Administration, the federal government is suing Port Chester, New York, for not electing Hispanics.
The voting age citizen population of Port Chester is 22% Hispanic. According to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, U.S. Attorney Michael Garcia, and other Justice Department officials who may or may not also have Spanish surnames, that 22% has to translate into Hispanic trustees — or else.
Mayor Gerald Logan calls the case "a waste of taxpayer dollars." Unfortunately it is something much worse. We've already seen that equal opportunity isn't enough when it comes to education and employment — liberals insist on equal outcome, even if it has to be imposed by force at the expense of fairness and merit.
The same is apparently now true of government representation. Naturally, it will only work one way. Imagine a case where the AG complains that not enough Caucasians are getting elected.
Obviously this is not consistent with the precepts of democracy. But thanks to moonbattery, these days it's not about democracy — it's about race. If political correctness is getting this bad under a Republican administration, imagine the toll that will be taken on our system of government once Democrats are back in the White House.

How many of those 22% hispanic are ILLEGAL????? Another nearby town to Port Chester was cited for DISCRIMINATION for enforcing loitering laws against "day laborers". During the trial, the plaintiffs were NOT ALLOWED TO BE ASKED ABOUT THEIR IMMIGRATION STATUS!!! Also, the town of Port Chester has been voting this way SINCE THE 1800'S!!!!! (sorry for the shouting, this just ticks me off)

So the Feds are advocating gerrymandering??
It's not illegal but it sure as hell is unethical.
I witnessed several districts in central North Carolina
that routinely gerrymandered to get more blacks voted in,
well wait a minute...RADICAL blacks, not ones with the good of
people in mind.
Once again, W does us no favor with his appointees and caters to the NWO crowd.

What about other minorities? Are their percentages high enough to merit such a lawsuit?

I've been saying that Bush is a traitor to his race for some time now, and this is more proof. We should be deporting browns, not forcing them into office.

Well, first of all, hispanic/latino is NOT a RACE... Secondly, all hispanics/latinos trace thier main ancestry to Spain/Portugal. Sorry to burst the lefties' bubbles, but people in Spain and Portugal are WHITE. Italians have dark hair and many have dark skin, but they are STILL WHITE! Gee whiz, these people are DUMB than rocks. And lastly, yes we should be deoprting browns, vote4pat, BECAUSE WE CAN STAY WHITE IF WE WANT TO; WE'RE THE ONES THAT CREATED THIS COUNTRY, and we don't need to be any more balkanized than we already are!

Gerrymandering and professional politicians are the problem with "democracy." That's why the U.S.A. wasn't supposed to be a democracy. It USED to be a REPUBLIC.

Besides which, conservatives aren't racists or
klan people. Neither are they bombastic blowhards
like "votes4Pat" who tinker in the background trying to
"get a rise" out of someone here.
I'm a conservative who has no trouble working with or living among other races. Have done it all my life. I DO have trouble with WHITEs who try to force racial quotas upon all of us in some twisted sense of NWO "justice" which translates more to
societal molestation and less to a democratic process.

Many continue to describe Latinos as a race; it bears repeating again: Hispanic/Latino is NOT a RACE. Hispanics can have white skin, blond hair, and blue eyes. A majority of the hispanics in the U.S. are white. Even the dark skinned hispanics have Spanish European ancestry.
