Texas Dems in a Snit Over Signs
Posted by Dave Blount at November 2, 2006 6:14 PM
Democrats in Fort Bend County, Texas are sputtering mad over Republican signs that accurately inform voters as to what they are voting for if they vote Democratic.
Signs in Tom DeLay's old district offer messages such as "Want more illegals? Vote Democrat" and "Encourage Terrorists. Vote Democrat." Other signs remind voters that a vote for Dems is a vote for higher taxes.
Angry Dems summarily removed the signs. County Commissioner Andy Meyers can't figure out why they're so hot and bothered:
All I am doing is repeating what the leadership of the Democratic Party's position is. So I am not sure why they would be upset about that.
Since it is undeniable that Democratic victories would result in even less border enforcement, a dismantling of our antiterror defenses, and as always, higher taxes, local Dems don't bother trying to dispute the messages. Instead, they resort to the tried and true tactic of pretending they are racist.
Blusters Don Bankston, campaign coordinator for the Democratic Party in Ford Bend County:
This is a majority minority county where Hispanics, blacks and Asians make up about 60 percent of the population. This is an appeal to fear, racism and prejudice, and that is wrong.
They forgot a sign: "Let's Have More Moonbattery. Vote Democrat."
