Moderate Muslim Sighting

A moderate Muslim — i.e., one who does not approve of terrorism or believe that all infidels must die — has been sighted in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His name is Jamal Miftah and he is to be commended for the courage it took to write a piece in Tulsa World in which he criticizes al-Qaeda and calls on other Muslims to condemn terrorism. For his efforts, he has been threatened and kicked out of his mosque.

Did I say "moderate" Muslim? Among Muslims, Jamal Miftah is a radical.

I am quite sure there are Muslims who do not support Jihad against everyone else, suicide bombings, and beheadings, etc. I am glad that he is one of them. That still does not mean that the West has to take in Muslims in significant numbers. I still don't think the importation of large numbers of alien cultures, religions, and peoples is a wise thing for the West to do. we should exercise our right to keep our nations predominately white and Christian.

Hmm. One the one hand, Chris sure doesn't speak for me. Altho' I'm rightwing bigoted Christian fundie reactionary fascist kinda guy (according to your typical leftist, anyway), I couldn't care less what percent of melanin is in my neighbor's skin, as long as he doesn't want to kill me and mine, and doesn't claim allegiance to a worldview that, when taken seriously, would call for such action. And I call on Chris and anyone else who calls himself a Christian and spouts such skin-color-based hatred to repent. If I knew who he was I would counsel him from Scripture. If he rejected such counsel I would take another with me and repeat the effort. If he continued to reject it I would go to his board of elders. If he rejected their entreaties, he should be told that he is not a Christian and is henceforth ejected from fellowship. He is, of course, welcome anytime to publicly repent of his sin of showing favoritism and be restored to fellowship. A cursory glance at Scripture should be sufficient to demonstrate that he doesn't take the Bible seriously.

It's not surprising that this 'moderate' Muslim is facing censure from his mosque. He is an apostate, and doesn't take the words of the Koran seriously. Actually, he's not a moderate at all. He's a Muslim like your average Episcopal bishop is a 'Christian' (or like Chris above is, for that matter); neither takes their Holy Book seriously. How do you know if a Muslim is really 'moderate'? He only wants to kill the Jews.

I would like to point out that there's a difference between race and culture, and that it's never a good idea to conflate the two. Mixing up the ideas of race and culture is part of the strategy behind multiculturalism, in that abnyone who wants to preserve their culture against the influx of a foreign, often incompatible culture, is dismissed as a racist, when in reality race probably has no part in it. LEts face it, without the big bushy beard most arab muslims would look like any other mediterranean, and the Iranians would be indistinguishable from a typical anglo type. Race isn't the problem, but culture, and the large influx of incompatible cultures in to the west is a destabilising influence.

Your disgusting screed against me is completely false and is NOT what I said Doc. You are probably a member of a moonbat church from the way you sound. You are just as afflicted with moonbattery as the leftists and your views are leftist as well. NOWHERE did I state that I "hated" people of color or that they weren't deserving of human treatment. My point was the survivability of Western Civilization which was not built by the alien cultures/peoples we are importing into it. You say you dont care what color your neighbors are? Try moving into the South side of Chicago and then let me know. If you think America or the West is going to survive with Asians/Blacks/Hispanics in the majority you're sadly mistaken. Has NOTHING to do with "hatred" or "racism" so please do not stick me with moonbat labels.

Who gives a s**t.Let people be people.Maybe its not about god. Maybe its about people trying to push their opinions about everything on everyone. Not everybody has the desire to be told what they can do and thats when the problems seem to start.

Oh yes, Anna, you really nailed the heart of liberalism to the T-do what you will as long as its consentual/not harmful to others. I'm afraid that this does NOT match the society envisioned by the Founding Father's. They did not create a society where anything and everything is OK as long as we wanna do it. The Founders created a society where the people governed themselves. Governing yourself requires the people to have stable loyalties and strong personal responsibility. Liberty requires people obey the laws and rules not out of coercion but out of a sense of loyalty to the community and this requires a moral people. John Adams was correct when he said "our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people; for any other it would be totally unworkable." If a person cannot accept this basic requirement of liberty (which does not mean doing what you want to do always), you don't understand America itself.

And also Anna, our Constitution in fact ensures us the ability to push our opinions on others; its called Republican government where the majority prevails. Minorities are just that, minorities, and they are entitled only to basic protection of human rights. They cannot, by nature, be equivalent to the majority. This is another reason why multiculturalism and diversity doesn't work for a cohesive society. If you don't have cohesion, you have no society.
