Katrina Scammers Anything But Grateful

Unfortunately not everyone is thankful on Thanksgiving. After a church gave a $75,000 house to Joshua Thompson and his apparent wife, who claimed to have been left homeless by Katrina, the Thompsons flipped the house without ever moving in, walking off with a cool $88,000.

Said Jean Phillips, a real estate agent and member of the Temple of Deliverance Church of God in Christ:

They came in humble like they really needed a new start, and our hearts went out to them.

"Take it up with God," Thompson smirked to a TV reporter.

On a tip from Bill V.

These filthy scumbags will get what's coming to them. Take that up with God!

For every dollar spent on government welfare, only 27 cents actually reaches the recipient, the rest of it gets swallowed by the bureaucracy. With oversight like this, is it any wonder the system gets ripped off?:

Money For Low-Income Housing Spent On New Hummer: Let's start with Vancouver Housing Authority Executive Director Kurt Creager. Many of his section-8 clients don't have enough money for any car, but Creager just expensed a $37,000 H-3.

And how does this Washington-state bureaucrat justify blowing taxpayer dollars on a Hummer?

Creager defends the H-3's necessity saying, "A lesson we learned from Hurricane Katrina: you have to be prepared. You hope something doesn't happen, but as a property manager, we have to be prepared."

Oh, yeah, because, you know, Washington state is so regularly devasted by hurricanes. And no vehicle other than a $40,000 Hummer could ever possibly function after a major disaster.
