Jesus Doll Too Christian For Christmas

Posted by Dave Blount at November 14, 2006 9:24 PM

Beverly Hills Teddy Bear Co. offered to donate 4,000 foot-high dolls that quote Bible verses to the Marine Reserves' Toys for Tots program, so that they could be distributed to needy children this Christmas season. But there's one problem with the dolls: they are too Christian.

Explains Bill Grein of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation:

We can't take a chance on sending a talking Jesus doll to a Jewish family or a Muslim family.

The rejected Jesus doll recites such hateful infidel rhetoric as "Love your neighbor as yourself." It retails for $20.

Remind me again what we celebrate on Christmas — I thought it had something to do with Christ, but that can't be right, or it would have been banned lest a Muslim decide to be offended.
