Ann Richards Gets the Perfect Tribute
In a fitting tribute, the Congress Avenue Bridge in Austin has been renamed the Ann W. Richards Congress Avenue Bridge after the former Texas Governor.
Richards, who died in September, was best known for her hostility to the Second Amendment, her alcoholism, and for attacking Bush 41 with the famous one-liner:
Poor George, he can't help it... He was born with a silver foot in his mouth.
She served one term before being dispatched by W (whom she had referred to as "some jerk"), despite having outspent him by $2.6 million.
Considering her moonbat credentials, it's certainly appropriate that the bridge renamed in her honor is home to the world's largest urban bat colony. As many as 1.5 million bats live underneath it.

On a tip from Byron.

I live in Austin - Texas' most liberal city. I gotta assure everyone: Even though many in Austin are "Berkeley wanna-bees" we still keep a little conservative passion. For instance, you can still advertise firearms in the newspaper.
But I tend to agree - If Ann Richards HAS to be "honored" - this is the perfect tribute.

For as moonbatty as Richards was, W was worse. The Great Spender expanded Texas government dramatically, and we have yet to recover. He has done the same in Washington.
Instead of a bridge, we should honor W with a huge public works boondoggle. He is and always will be a disgrace to fiscal conservatism.

Ann's was perhaps the lamest one-liner ever uttered in venue famous for the lameness of its humor. She was a mean old bat and an excrable excuse for a Texan politician. I hope they buried her deep.

Ah, yes, Ann Richards. The governor who was going to take on the insurance industry in Texas. Another of her landmark failures as insurance premiums sky rocketed under her direction. But she was a true Democrat; cocky, arrogant and with a shady past and little knowledge on how to govern.
So while Austin attempts to become the San Francisco of the southwest, I find it fitting that the home of the Austin bat will forever be attached to the largest (moon)bat of them all, Ann Richards.
