All Politics Is National
Though some Republican candidates are more appealing than others, all of them are preferable to their Democratic opponents, if only because control of Congress is at stake. If Dems end up with a majority, the result will be a frightening degree of power for the taut face of San Francisco values, Nancy Pelosi, who as Speaker of the House will be in a position to control who chairs congressional committees.
Here are a few of the chairs we can look forward to if voters do not choose wisely:
Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence: Alcee Hastings. Hastings was a federal judge, until he was impeached for taking a $150,000 bribe. Pelosi herself voted in favor of his impeachment. But now she wants to curry favor with the Black Caucus, and the current ranking Democrat on this committee, Jane Harman, has come under fire from Democrats for supporting Israel. Intelligence is the only thing standing between us and the next 9/11.
Committee on Appropriations: David Obey. Apparently oblivious to the terror war being waged against our country, Obey regards global warming as "our biggest national security threat." He wants to make it a federal crime to give money to an individual political candidate. If Hastings doesn't manage to cripple our intelligence-gathering capabilities, Obey should be able to help: he voted seven times to cut the intelligence budget.
Committee on Armed Services: Ike Skelton. Despite originally favoring opening the Iraqi front in the War on Terror, he is now calling for an immediate surrender to the terrorists poised to turn Iraq into a client state of either Iran or al Qaeda. Skelton wants to wrest control of the military from the Executive Branch and have it run by Nancy Pelosi's Congress.
Committee on the Budget: John Spratt. Last year the National Taxpayer's Union gave Spratt a grade of "F" and named him as one of the "Biggest Spenders" in Congress.
Committee on Energy and Commerce: John Dingell. Dingell's agenda includes putting the screws to pharmaceutical companies and nationalizing health care. He famously announced: "I don't take sides for or against Hezbollah or for or against Israel." Hezbollah terrorists have killed hundreds of American servicemen.
Committee on Financial Services: Barney Frank. Frank's homosexual lover ran a male prostitution ring out of the Congressman's DC home. Frank opposed the Respect for Fallen Heroes Act that would prohibit political fanatics from crashing the funerals of fallen soldiers and turning them into circuses. He also opposed preventing Islamic militants from entering the country on visas.
Committee on International Relations: Tom Lantos. Another San Francisco liberal in the Nancy Pelosi mold, Lantos is a member of the loony-Left Progressive Caucus. NARAL gave him a 100% score. He sides with the drug-financed Marxist guerillas who are waging a terror war against the government of Colombia.
Committee on Government Reform: Henry Waxman. Waxman assisted radical leftists to deliver $600,000 in "aid" to terrorists fighting US troops in Fallujah.
Committee on the Judiciary: John Conyers. Conyers has promised to "end the George Bush regime in the United States of America." He plans to accomplish this by bringing impeachment proceedings against the President. Our terrorist enemies will be delighted. Conyers also wants those with African blood to be given free money at everyone else's expense in the name of "slavery reparations." That ought to do wonders for race relations. A hard-core leftist, he has associated with extremist groups such as International ANSWER, which aspires to replace our democracy with a Stalin-style communist police state.
Committee on Ways and Means: Charlie Rangel. Another member of the lunatic Left, Rangel's first priority is to raise taxes. The effect on our economy will not be beneficial.
Let's not neglect potential Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi herself. Her voting record includes support for the following:
- US taxpayers funding abortions in other countries
- Using lawsuits to circumvent the Second Amendment
- Gay "marriage" and even adoptions
- Race-based college admissions
- Obesity lawsuits against food providers
- "Alternative sentencing" for criminals
- The Marriage Tax
- Blatantly unconstitutional restrictions on political speech in the name of "campaign finance reform"
- The pointless economic suicide pact rejected by the Senate 95-0 known as the Kyoto Protocol
She has voted against:
- Dealing responsibly with illegal immigration (0% ranking by FAIR)
- Tort reform
- Tax cuts
- Authorizing new oil refineries
- Drilling in ANWR
- The Patriot Act
- The Pledge of Allegiance
- School vouchers
In short, Stretch Pelousy is the very incarnation of shrill San Francisco moonbattery.
Please vote and vote sanely.

Congressman Dingell was previously chairman of that committee. While chairman, his surname became a verb. To "dingell" is to threaten to hold hearings about an individual or company until a suitable amount of campaign contributions are received (usually requested through a staff member in a manner entailing plausible deniability) resulting in hearings which are shorter and no obnoxious legislation getting out of committee.
I can't say whether Dingell operates like this, but his name became the verb, just like Captain Boycott.
IIRC, this process was described in the Eddie Murphy movie "The Distinguished Gentleman."

Is Pelosi doing a Hillary salute?

I suppose having Pelosi in charge of the house will be good in 1 respect, it will show the nation they made a huge mistake putting her in charge. Though she wont be able to get much done since Bush will whip out his rarely used Veto pen. Nonetheless this is big victory for anti-American forces determined to weaken the US from a public relations perspective.
The Senate is still up in the air with 2 races sure to drag on due to the gaps of 2,000 and 8,000 votes with armies of lawyers doing battle in MT and VA. This should be fun. At least Joe Lieberman defeated that millionaire wind bag in CT. Though I disagree with him on most issues, at least hes a real American.
