Impeachment Threat Is Real

As absurd as it may sound, impeachment proceedings against President Bush on strictly political grounds are a very real possibility if the current crop of Democrats take control of Congress, as explained in a chilling piece at FrontPage Magazine.

Reasonable people would not try to impeach a lame duck president simply because they disagree with his foreign policy, since it would have disastrous consequences for the stability of our democracy. But a Democratic victory would not put Congress in the hands of reasonable people. The damage caused to our country both internally and in the eyes of the world would not be seen as a problem to characters like John Conyers and Charles Rangel, whose ghetto constituents expect them to poke The Man in the eye, and who will be Chairmen of the Judiciary Committee and the Ways and Means Committee, respectively, should Republicans lose control of the House next month.

It should come as no surprise that the radical Left hates this country and aspires to destroy it from within. The combination of the Islamic terror threat and control of Congress by lunatic-fringe moonbats like Conyers and Rangel could put their goal within reach.

Conyers has already introduced a bill (H.R.635) calling for investigating articles of impeachment. Nancy Pelosi, who lacks Conyers' slack-jawed stupidity, has poured cold water on it for temporary strategic reasons, but it could be resuscitated in no time once Dems are in control. Pelosi herself has made a point to leave the door to impeachment open. After promising to "launch investigations of the administration on energy policy and other matters," she was asked if the "other matters" could involve impeachment. Her coy response: "You never know where it leads to."

Conyers and his friends at the Center for Constitutional Rights have concocted a list of laws supposedly violated by the Bush Administration, including:

  • Committing a Fraud Against the United States (18 U.S.C. 371)
  • Making False Statements to Congress (18 U.S.C. 1001)
  • War Powers Resolution (Public Law 93-148)
  • Misuse of Government Funds (31 U.S.C. 1301)
  • Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (50 U.S.C. 1801 et seq.)
  • National Security Act of 1947 (50 U.S.C. chapter 15)
  • Communications Act of 1934 (47 U.S.C. 222)
  • Stored Communications Act of 1986 (18 U.S.C. 2702)
  • Pen Registers or Trap and Trace Devices (18 U.S.C. 3121)
  • Obstructing Congress (18 U.S.C. 1505)
  • Whistleblower Protection (5 U.S.C. 2302)
  • The Lloyd-LaFollette Act (5 U.S.C. 7211)
  • Retaliating against Witnesses (18 U.S.C. 1513)
  • Anti-Torture Statute (18 U.S.C. 2340-40A)
  • The War Crimes Act (18 U.S.C. 2441)
  • Material Witness (18 U.S.C. 3144)

No matter how groundless, these are serious allegations. Investigating them will not only cost a fortune, but tie the government in knots for years. Our ability to defend ourselves against Islamic terrorists will be impeded, to put it mildly.

Progressives have resolved that the USA must lose in Iraq, allowing them to relive their Vietnam Era glory days. Although an impeachment campaign would not get Bush out of the White House, it could very possibly get our troops out of Iraq prematurely. The consequences for us, for Iraq, and for the world would be catastrophic. But that's not a concern for the crowd who will be running Congress if Republicans don't hold it.

Conyers and Rangel: Not worried about the consequences.

Does anyone think they would do this without impeaching Cheney on all the same grounds?

And if the House switches....and Cheney is impeached...Roberts would be swearing in who?

Yes, that's right.

The only hope would be that Cheney would be sworn and appoint a new VP first..who would have to clear the senate (filibuster anyone?)

Something to remember the next time a leftie insists that Democrats were united with Republicans in defeating communism and how dare you question their Patriotism. Ted Kennedy Offered to Help Soviets Win Cold War

In his book, Kengor focuses on a KGB letter written at the height of the Cold War that shows that Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) offered to assist Soviet leaders in formulating a public relations strategy to counter President Reagan’s foreign policy and to complicate his re-election efforts.

I totally agree that impeachment of President Bush would be a bad idea for the Democrats. What better demonstration of the reasons to not vote Republican in 2008 could they possibly have than this Administration?

Is it any wonder that these two clowns represent two "third world" districts in the United States. They have seniority only because the denizens of these districts are hopelessly enslaved on the government hand outs. Is it any wonder that communist organizations such as "By Any Means Neccessary" have sprung up from such areas? These districts will continue to be shitholes while clowns without a clue continue to elect parasites like these two.
