Gray Lady Endorses No Republicans

For the first time since before Watergate, the New York Times is not endorsing even a single Republican for Congress in next week's elections.

So much for evaluating candidates as individuals. It's party that matters on Pinch Sulzberger's sinking ship.

As the Fox News folks might say: Fair and balanced? You decide.

As Pinch navigates the Times to the bottom of the sea, let's hope he takes his party with him.

I never understood why newspapers endorse candidates anyway. Shouldn't they just report the news? Not try to influence people?

Oh wait, this is the NYT's we're talking about...their job IS to influence people.
