Cross Removed From Chapel at William and Mary
On the campus of William and Mary, a 2-foot gold cross has been removed "to make the Wren Chapel less of a faith-specific space, and to make it more welcoming to students, faculty, staff and visitors of all faiths."
William and Mary was established by the Anglican Church. Wren Chapel is in a building that was finished in 1699. These days a lot of nonreligious ceremonies take place in the chapel, as do non-Christian religious services, so the cross had to go, although Christians will be allowed to display in on the altar "at appropriate religious services." How open-minded of the college.
Once again we see the mighty river of Western history abruptly petering out into a shallow multicultural swamp.

Not to mention W&M was "forced" to rid themselves of the feathers that are part of their emblem, else they'll be barred from competing in sports (forgive me, I'm not a follower of sports so I don't know the acronym for the governing body).
No feathers, no cross...pretty soon all traces of anything that distinguish W&M from other institutions will vanish. I suppose the name will have to go as well.
