Capitalism: The Only Hope for Dying Socialist Rag

France's Libération, a left-wing relic from the hippy era, is about to go belly up. Despite its fundamental devotion to attacking all things capitalist, its fate lies in the hands of financier Edouard de Rothschild, its major stockholder, who says the paper has until the end of the month to figure out how to cut costs and increase earnings.

The idea of turning a profit is anathema to the moonbats running Libération, but Rothschild apparently expects a return on the €20 million he has flushed down the paper. It lost €6 million in the first half of the year, and paid readership is falling.

This summer Rothschild forced out editor Serge July, who created the paper with Jean-Paul Sartre back in the flower-power days. In response, some of Libé's best-known reporters have quit, invoking the astonishing "conscience clause," which dictates that media owners have to keep paying the salaries of journalists who quit because they are offended by the owners' policies or politics.

Imagine trying to do business in a country with laws like that, and you will understand why France, like Libération, is tailspinning toward ruin.

In the dictionary the definition of "money" has a photo of the Rothschilds family shield alongside it.

With the extensive history and opinion surrounding the Rothschilds over the centuries (true or not), no one can seriously think this guy is France's best hope. That's trading one evil for another. And that never works.
