Border Patrol Officers Receive Draconian Sentences For Trying to Do Their Job

The verdict is in regarding the astounding case of Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean, two border patrol agents who were thrown in jail for wounding the apparently armed Mexican drug smuggler Osvaldo Aldrete Davila, who assaulted one of them while illegally on the wrong side of the border with a van full of marijuana.

Brace yourself to learn what they will be receiving instead of the commendations both deserve for attempting to perform their thankless duties. Ramos was sentenced to 11 years and one day, Compean to 12 years. The criminal was given immunity in exchange for testifying against the officers who tried to arrest him.

The draconian sentences were the result of having used a firearm in the commission of a supposed felony. Both agents are married fathers who will be leaving family behind. Cardone's wife gave birth to their third child a month ago.

As Ramos' lawyer Mary Stillinger noted, Aldrete was shot "not because he's a drug dealer, not because he's an illegal alien, but because of his actions" — actions that included assault and threatening behavior that lead the officers to believe he was armed (which for all we really know he was).

Johnny Sutton, who led the prosecution, promises that next time they catch Aldrete with a van full of marijuana on our side of the border, they'll put him in jail instead of the agents who try to arrest him. But I wouldn't count on it.

Even if meaningful border enforcement legislation makes it through Washington, it will accomplish nothing if can't cure our system of the culture of moonbattery that gives our society's enemies every advantage, and its defenders the shaft.

While Johnny Sutton may be telling the adoring reporters that if Mr. Drug Runner again with a van load of poison that he intends to sell to our kids, Sutton made no mention of the fact that Aldrete has ALREADY been caught again for running drugs into our nation. The only problem being that Aldrete was still under immunity given to him by Sutton for testifing against two brave Border Patrol agents (one who was voted Border Patrol Agent of the Year). Nor did Sutton mention that Aldrete is now suing the Border Patrol and our government for millions of dollars due to the violation of his civil rights (to bring drugs into our nation) and his loss of income (from not being able to bring drugs into our nation) claiming that being shot in the ass prohibited him for working.
The sad part about this whole case is that the Border Patrol agent that should be going to jail is the Arizona agent that went to Mexico, got Aldrete, took him to a medical facitility in the United States for treatment (a month after the incident) and found Mr. Drug Runner a lawyer.

This site is the only place I've heard this story. I'm sure there has to be some fund going to help these guys appeal or do something.

Realize the head is a smaller target, but if you can...aim for it. Certainly doesn't pay to be a civil servant does it?

There are folks who have come to the aid of these officers but am not sure it'll be enough to help them.

Let's see, border guards defending our southern flank get 12 years in prison for doing their jobs, and a scumbag leftist lawyer gets 28 months for helping terrorists plot to kill Americans. Does this make sense to anybody?
