Bill Frist Redefines Victory
If AP is to be believed, top dog Senator Bill Frist (RINO-TN) wants to bring the Taliban into the Afghan government.
Winning wars is easy when you define success like this:
You need to bring them [the Taliban] into a more transparent type of government. And if that's accomplished we'll be successful.
France found similar success in WWII, when they brought Nazis into their own government.
More from potential presidential candidate Frist:
Approaching counterinsurgency by winning hearts and minds will ultimately be the answer. Military versus insurgency one-to-one doesn't sound like it can be won. It sounds to me ... that the Taliban is everywhere.
Fellow RINO Mel Martinez is on the same page, opining that negotiations with the Taliban are not "out of the question." Says Martinez:
A political solution is how it's all going to be solved.
As you may recall, the Taliban provided al Qaeda with a launch pad for September 11. When Martinez bleats about a "political solution," he means a political solution to this:

If they negotiate really, really hard, they might possibly get the Taliban to promise not to do it again. But I doubt it.
Needless to say, if we turn Afghanistan over to the Taliban, that means the Taliban wins and we lose, however Frist and friends may chose to spin it.
The Dems and RINOs might be right. Maybe it's impossible to extend civilization into the Islamic world. But accepting that leaves only two other options: 1) the Democratic strategy of waiting for them to acquire the technology to wipe us off the planet; and 2) the glass parking lot approach.

Hat tip: Hot Air.
PS: Frist is disputing the story. Putting the "moronic" into oxymoronic, he says he's only willing to do business with "moderate Islamists."

Odd. I have not heard of a single Democrat ever who advocated compromise with the Taliban. The only politician to do so: the head of the Senate's Republican majority.
Some party you got there.

Guess this is what happens when the US only has 12,000 troops in Afghanistan and has turned over control of the fight there to NATO.
Wouldn't call either of these guys RINOs --they're dyed in the wool Republicans. But, then, as Kyle said that's the party you got.
