Azzam the American Charged With Treason; Reuters Finds Mark Foley Link
In a move that should make Jimmy Carter nervous, the Justice Department has charged Adam Gadahn with treason.
Gadahn, aka Adam Pearlman, aka Azzam the American, became a Muslim as a teenage misfit in Southern California and later went off to Pakistan to make propaganda videos for al Qaeda. He's the first American to be charged with treason since the WWII era; the maximum punishment is death.
According to the charges, Gadahn has given al Qaeda "aid and comfort ... with the intent to betray the United States." In his video productions, Gadahn has referred to the 9/11 atrocities as "the blessed raids on New York and Washington," and to the USA as "enemy soil." He has expressed hope that "the streets of America shall run red with blood."
Incredibly, al Reuters has managed to drag Mark Foley into this story:
Justice Department officials denied the case was timed to deflect attention from the fallout over lewd computer messages sent by a former Republican congressman to young male aides, a scandal that may help Democrats seize control of Congress in the November 7 elections.

It's the timing of the Foley scandel that should be scrutinized. I haven't heard much from the MSM regarding the releasing of that story.
