Islam did not spread throughout the Middle East at the expense of Christianity due to its greater enlightenment, but to its violent intolerance of competition.

Unfortunately dhimmis seem capable of realizing this only when it's too late, as in the case of the YMCA, which is being squeezed out of the Palestinian territories for being nominally Christian, despite having stridently denounced Israel in favor of "the oppressed Palestinian people."

Given a chance, Muslims would squeeze us right off the planet. Liberal appeasement isn't likely to stop them.
