On Anniversary, AP Continues to Attack Our Morale

Associated Press has taken advantage of this somber anniversary to rally our spirits in their traditional fashion with yet another piece devoted to convincing us that the world hates us because in the conflict between Western Civilization and Muslim terrorists, the USA is the bad guy.

Here's how it kicks off:

PARIS (AP) - The nations of the world joined Monday in solemn remembrance of Sept. 11 - but for many, resentment of the United States flowed as readily as tears.

Various world leaders are quoted pandering to the America-hating press by making fools of themselves with fatuous and counterproductive comments. New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark, for example, declared that "we're not more secure since 9/11." Her remedy? As AP words it, we need to

encourage understanding between different peoples, and to help end the sense of alienation and exclusion among some young Muslims that fuels extremism.

We don't need to kill terrorists, we just need to give them a hug. If only the bad old USA would understand.

Even Germany's Angel Merkel piled on, kowtowing to the treasured moonbat notion that America isn't gentle enough with terrorists:

In the fight against international terror ... respect for human rights, tolerance and respect for other cultures must be the maxim of our actions, along with decisiveness and international cooperation.

Hey, what's the word "decisiveness" doing in with all that oatmeal?

At least Israel ought to appreciate our willingness to fight back. Nonetheless, AP managed to dig this quote out of an Israeli daily:

This is Sept. 11 five years later: a political tool in the hands of the Bush administration.

Apparently Afghanistan's Hamid Karzai had nothing bad to say about America. He thanked us for our sacrifices in prying his country out of the grip of al Qaeda and the Taliban and rebuilding it after decades of war. His kind words are quickly countered with this unsubstantiated assertion:

But on the streets in the capital, Kabul, many Afghans grumbled that they had not seen much improvement.

AP didn't go to the trouble of actually finding an Afghan who thinks life was better under the Taliban. After dismissing our remarkable achievements in Afghanistan, the piece finally wraps up by crowing that Pakistan may be our ally, but the people still hate us.

But at least we can rest assured that Pakistanis couldn't possibly hate us any more than the liberal media does.

AP: Absolutely Pernicious.

The New Zealander's comment is pretty much on the mark if read in the proper context. We must develop "an" understanding with these different peoples that when the U.S. hands out an ass-kicking, it will be oriented toward (rather than alienating) and inclusive of all such people who lack such an understanding that may be fueling their extremism that they would otherwise have if such ass-kicking was delivered with the requisite "decisiveness." There. See, now that's the ticket.

Monsoon: Heh.

I've long wondered whatever happened to the "Almost Persuasive" news service. There was a time when AP news actually reported facts rather than opinion...but then, it's so hard to find good liberal facts these days...
