Lincoln Chafee Repays Party With Treachery

National Republicans chose to support the shameless RINO Lincoln "Chafing" Chafee against his conservative opponent Steve Laffey for a Rhode Island Senate seat, on the grounds that Chafing being an incorrigible liberal makes him more electable in left-leaning New England. Now that he has secured the nomination, Chafing is returning the favor as you might expect: with betrayal, by blocking John Bolton's permanent appointment as United Nations ambassador.

If we really are going to continue with the degrading charade of participating in the UN, it is essential that we are at least represented by a guy like Bolton, who has the character to stand up to this odious institution's corruption and anti-American moonbattery. Unfortunately, his recess appointment expires at the end of the year.

Chafing is holding up Bolton's nomination while he demands "some clarification" regarding US policy toward expansion of Israeli settlements. Earlier in the month he stalled a vote on Bolton, apparently because he couldn't make up his mind. You might call it a silent filibuster.

With Republicans like Chafing, who needs Democrats?

Stinkin' Lincoln.

Such is the fruit of being nice to your enemies. It worked so well with the democrats at the beginning of Bush's first term, with the Harriet Myers nomination, and with Dad chumming it up with the Clintons.

Can't make up his mind? What mind?

I loathe Chafey as much as the next guy but I don't like this RINO talk about him. Yeah he acts more like a lib than a conservative often but isn't casting him aside the same as the Democrats shunning Lieberman? We critisized them for shunning Lieberman so doing the same to Chafey seems like the pot calling the kettle black. My two cents.

No, it isn't. Lieberman was cast aside for being the only Democrat who doesn't want America to lose the war on terror.

Linc Chaffee opposes tax relief, opposes developing oil reserves in the Arctic wastelands, voted against Bush's Supreme Court nominees, voted for a timetable to surrender in Iraq, and in favor of partial birth abortion.

So, whereas Lieberman deviated from his party on one issue (and is otherwise an uber-liberal socialist), Chaffee has used his position to undercut every Republican party initiative. He does not deserve re-election, and I for one hope he gets voted out.

And damn Liz Dole and the rest of the RSCC for spending millions of dollars supporting that idiot instead of supporting real Republicans in tight races like Jim Talent, Conrad Burns, and Michael Steele.

Amen to that. It's bad enough that the socialist party...er, dems act so shamelessly toward Steele in Maryland, but the lack of real support from the GOP is a worse sin.

But what can you expect from a Dole anyway? Erectile dysfunction only, it seems...the perfect metaphor for what this party's dismal performance in recent years.
