British Dhimmitude Extended to the Dead

According to ancient tradition, Christian graves should face east in anticipation of the Second Coming. But tombstones at the new High Wood Cemetery in Nottingham, England will be facing northeast, so that dead Muslims can look over their shoulders at Mecca.

The cemetery has separate sections for different faiths, since at this point in British history it is still permissible not to be Muslim. However, headstones in all sections will be oriented Muslim style unless a special request is made. According to the 2001 census, 70% of the population is still Christian. But ever since 9/11, catering to Muslims has become priority number one throughout the dhimmified West.

"About-turn over graves facing Mecca"
Daily Telegraph 092506
"Claims that all the graves in a new £2.5 million cemetery would be aligned with Mecca were dismissed last night as "ridiculous"..."

Reading the link left by a commenter: "About-turn over graves facing Mecca" it seems to me that the council has had to do an about-face and in stating that these stories were 'ridiculous' is simply trying to save their own embarrassment over such a huge gaffe.

The original Telegraph article quotes too many names, apparently verbatim, for this to have been something fictional as the council seems to be implying. Additionally, my experience of local newspapers, where this story first appeared, is that they are more reliable as news sources than the big papers, being more accountable to their reader at the local level.

Sperestillan,

I don't disagree with what you're saying. I just happened to see the latest article right before I did my morning check at this website. I thought it was relevant.

He didn't really do an about face. The guy is talking in weasel talk, and blaming "racists" for pointing out the truth.

1) Originally he said only the first phase would be muslim style, and in his "about face" he didn't deny that.

2) Originally he said that people would always be able to be buried any way they want, however there might be an extra charge for non-muslim style burials. He didn't deny that in his "about face".

I'd say nothing has changed...except that instead of just burying everyone muslim style by default unless otherwise requested (for a possible fee), they're now going to bury everyone muslim style by default unless otherwise requested (for a possible fee) and if you don't like it you're a racist.

Yes and a good call Panday, glad you saw it as I haven't seen it reported anywhere else.

Hmm. If this level of dhimmitude makes it across the pond how's about a compromise? I'll be buried on my knees with my butt facing Mecca so any Islamofacist in the area can give it a big, wet smooch. Is that "culturally sentsitive" enough?

'Scuse me, meant that word to be "sensitive".
