Tweety Throws His Weight Behind Lamont
It's hard to say who wins if Dems let their ship go over a cataract by throwing the liberal Joe Lieberman overboard in favor of MoveOn.org's choice Ned Lamont. Sure it would make Democrats less electable nationwide to be revealed as intolerant fanatics who will eat their own to impose Soviet-style absolute ideological conformity. But on the downside, as the Dems veer ever farther toward the lunatic fringe, they're pulling the center of gravity with them. RINOs will keep moving leftward to fill the moderate liberal vacuum. Instead of a choice between conservatives and liberals, we are going to end up with a choice between liberals and the radical Left, like they have in France. The Dems will lose elections, but they'll win the war by drawing the country toward moonbattery.
At least one person will be happy with a Lieberman defeat today. Over the weekend, the rabidly anti-war Chris "Tweety" Matthews — who has expressed a wish that Cindy Sheehan run for Congress — used his syndicated show to beg his fellow moonbats to get to the polls and vote for Lamont. As transcribed by NewsBusters:
This August 8th the Democratic voters of Connecticut will render a decisive verdict. If challenger Ned Lamont beats Joe Lieberman then it will tell us the Democratic Party has had it with the war in Iraq. If Senator Lieberman survives it will tell us all, Republicans and Democrats, independents that it's safe for anyone to support this war. That's right even a Democrat from a liberal state where most Democrats hate the war and detest the President who chose to fight it. ... I want a huge turnout. ... If Democrats in Connecticut think this war has not been good for America they should use their precious ballot, fought and died for, for two centuries of patriots to say so.
At least Tweety has dropped any tedious pretense of objectivity. Maybe he can afford to, now that he has the valuable endorsement of the wacko Left Pacifica Radio's Amy Goodman.

If Lamont wins, and the Nutroots go wild, it may go down as the 'Wellstone Memorial' moment of the 2006 Elections.

That Kos commercial "Menthos" for Lamont is truly a scream. I think about it every time someone mentions this race.
