The Approaching Point of No Return
Thank you Thomas Sowell, for pointing out a few simple realities that our leaders do not seem willing to address. Nuclear-armed Muslim fanatics, like we will soon have in Iran and before long throughout the Middle East, cannot be reasoned with, negotiated with, placated, or deterred. You can't trade them land for peace, cash for peace, nuclear technology for peace, or anything else. What they want is our humiliation and destruction. If drastic action isn't taken soon, they will get it.
The humiliation of Versailles made the Third Reich possible. But Muslim humiliation goes deeper. According to their ideology, non-Muslims are subhuman. Yet the Islamic world is undeniably inferior, and has been for centuries. What Muslims want is not a Palestinian homeland, but to punish us for their own intolerable inadequacy.
If only someone at the State Department would listen when Sowell asks:
What kind of people provide a market for videotaped beheadings of innocent hostages? What kind of people would throw an old man in a wheelchair off a cruise liner into the sea, simply because he was Jewish? What kind of people would fly planes into buildings to vent their hate at the cost of their own lives?
These are the kinds of people we are talking about getting nuclear weapons.
He's right that this "is not just another in the long history of military threats." Communists were evil but rational. Radical Muslims are both evil and insane. Our only options are to fight them before they have nukes, or fight them afterwards.
Sowell concludes:
Their treatment of hostages, some of whom have been humanitarians serving the people of the Middle East, shows that what the terrorists want is to inflict the maximum pain and psychic anguish on their victims before killing them.
Once these fanatics have nuclear weapons, those victims can include you, your children and your children's children.
The terrorists need not start out by wiping our cities off the map. Chances are they would first want to force us to humiliate ourselves in whatever ways their sadistic imaginations could conceive, out of fear of their nuclear weapons.
After we, or our children and grandchildren, find ourselves living at the mercy of people with no mercy, what will future generations think of us, that we let this happen because we wanted to placate "world opinion" by not acting "unilaterally"?
We are fast approaching the point of no return.
As this situation spins out of control, American voters contemplate returning control of Congress to Democrats, who have shown nothing but contempt for the struggle against Islamic terror, and have done what they could to impede it. If you own stock in the human race, now might be a good time to sell.

Yet the worst of this has happened on the GOP watch.
Bush has outsourced the Iranian problem to our European allies...even though it's the most serious and immediate threat to American safety.
And Bush played along with Pakistan on the whole Khan controversy...letting the guy go without so much as an interrogation after he shipped volumes of Pakistan's nuclear secrets to every Muslim country on the planet.
Heck of a job, Bush.

Prediction for the '06 elections: something scary happens before Nov.--then major ass-kicking for the "mommy" party. No way are we going to turn over power to the appeasers. I've got faith in the people.
