Moonbats Fear End of Totalitarianism in Cuba
Communist dictator Fidel Castro's health problems, signaling the impending end of his rule, have led to joyous celebrations among those who have escaped his hellish regime. But there's also a downside — what if, instead of a smooth transition to his thuggish younger brother, the totalitarian regime were to disintegrate as other communist dictatorships have been doing? What if instead of subsistence-level slavery, Cubans were able to attain the freedom, dignity, and wealth they deserve? What if they were actually to have a say in their own destiny? How do you think that would make moonbats feel?
The answer is awful, as a recent piece in Madison's Capital Times makes clear. Denizens of Wisconsin's answer to Berkeley fret that the sinister Bush Administration will take advantage of the transitional period to sow seeds of democracy in Cuba.
Congratulations to the Capital Times for managing to find Ricardo Gonzalez, an extremely rare Cuban ex-pat wacky enough to support the current regime. Gonzalez raves that the USA is scheming to annex Cuba.
Former University of Wisconsin English prof and "prominent local Socialist" Robert Kimbrough also has his pink panties in a wad. He quotes a 2004 report by the U.S. Commission for Assistance to a Free Cuba (headed by Condi Rice) as saying:
We pledge to help the Cuban people, and a new transition Cuban government, as you move away from the totalitarian Communist dictatorship and toward a free and representative democracy.
According to Kimbrough, this is "disgusting."
A fellow UW professor squawks that any U.S. involvement in helping our close neighbor transition from dictatorship to democracy
would be disastrous and lead to more complications than the United States is either able to deal with or would want to do in the world community.
There's that enlightened "world community" again.
Another Madison moonbat chips in that encouraging political and economic freedom in Cuba
is a very imperialistic approach, that we have some God-given right to have a hand in Cuba's affairs.
Hurry up, moonbats. If you don't defect to Cuba before freedom breaks out there, you may have to settle for North Korea. Or you could just stay in the USA while denouncing it and spewing hypocritical nonsense about how you prefer communism to wealth and freedom — but then people would continue to dismiss you as evil clowns.

I guess Cubans are more 'people of color' that aren't ready for democracy yet...

Who will be the new hero that the American left will adore? Will that fat pig chavez be their new idol?

If Ricardo Gonzalez is such a fan of Castro, why is he an EX patriot? Why is he in the U.S. and not in Cuba basking in the glories that are a communist country?
