If You Killed Your Baby and You're Proud, Clap Your Hands
Ms. Magazine is calling on readers who want the world to know they had an abortion and are pleased with themselves about it to sign an online petition.
According to Ms., it is time for "women of conscience" — by which they mean women who have done away with their inconvenient babies — to "stand up and speak truth to power." By "power" they must mean elected representatives — not the autocratic courts that have intervened to impose abortion nationally.
The stated purpose of the petition is "to save lives and to spare other women the pain of socially imposed guilt," though a more efficient way to save lives and avoid guilt would be to refrain from aborting babies.
There's also another purpose: the petition form asks that you "proudly" contribute to "Ms. Magazine and its Reproductive Freedom Fund" — major credit cards accepted.
As CNSNews.com reports, not all woman who have had an abortion are happy about it. In an Elliot Institute study of woman eight weeks after an abortion, 36% had experienced sleep disturbances, 31% had regrets about what they'd done, 25% had visited a psychiatrist, and 11% had been prescribed psychotropic medication. But at least they all had a chance to be alive.
