Enough Is Enough: The Anti-Moonbat Mutiny
Could it be that people have had enough of being fed to the teeth with moonbattery at the expense of their physical safety? Arnold Kling thinks so. Having noticed that "the political elites are out of touch with mass opinion," Kling refers to the Monarch Airlines Flight A320 passengers who recently refused to fly with a couple of suspicious Muslim-looking characters as evidence that there has been a "shift in the popular mood" in the USA, Britain, and Israel — the three countries that constitute civilization's front line in the conflict with Islamic imperialism.
Some of us were bound to get sick of being told we're "racist" if we don't like it that Muslims want to kill us for failing to worship their barbaric god. A few might even be a little tired of having to show up at the airport three hours early to have our toothpaste confiscated and be forced to take our shoes off because the authorities are too politically correct to concentrate their efforts on the people who actually pose a threat.
Kling lists a few "elite opinions" he feels we've heard enough of:
- The world's Muslims share our desire for peace and democracy.
- Equal-opportunity passenger screening at airports is a better policy than profiling.
- The United Nations is the world's conscience and policeman.
- The "international community" will deal with Iran's quest for nuclear weapons.
- It is possible for the United States to bring about a constructive transformation of Middle East politics, either through diplomatic or military initiatives.
We're told we need to win hearts and minds. But it's getting harder to hide the fact that if this approach were going to work on Muslims, it would have by now.
Kling predicts that popular opinion will swing toward one of two positions:
- The Middle East is a hopeless cauldron of hatred. We should focus on homeland security, stay out of the Middle East, and have as little interaction with the Muslim world as possible; or
- A major war is inevitable, so that we need to get ready for it. Nothing else will stop Iranian aggression, and nothing else will stifle the funding, sponsoring, and glorification of terrorists.
The first is tempting to embrace, but Islam is not a menace we can turn our back on, as September 11 and the string of lesser attacks building up to it should have taught us. Britain, with its massive Pakistani population, doesn't have the option of withdrawal, nor does Israel.
We might just have to grasp the nettle and face up to the reality that Islam wants to hurt us. There's no use waiting for our superiors to figure it out.

On a tip from Byron.

It is clear that Iran is buying CRITICAL time. The funny thing though, is that the world keeps on falling to the same pattern: we focus on Iran's nuclear program - "something" happens in the world that diverts attention - we slowly start refocusing on Iran - they come out with statements about their 'readiness to negotiate' - it takes a long time to digest and realize that these declarations are just 'time buyers' - we threaten them with sanctions - "something happens in the world that diverts attention - we slowly start refocusing on Iran - they come out with statements about their 'readiness to negotiate' - it takes a long time to digest and realize that these declarations are just 'time buyers' - we threaten them with sanctions - etc.
You get the picture...
My hope is that sooner or later the world will wake up!
But the longer it takes...the more lives will be lost.
Also, it would be interesting to predict when Iran will use their 'secret weapon'. Check it out at http://www.technonllc.com/blog

I dont think the President is naive about the 'time buy.'
He may "look" stupid, but....
I as well as others, DO keep track of Iraq and their monkey buisness. Same w/ n.korea, afghani etc.
Just a few "liberals" react, while America responds.
