Ada Smith: New York's Cynthia McKinney
New York's answer to Cynthia McKinney is State Senator Ada Smith of Queens, who has recently been found guilty of harassment after pulling off a staffer's hairpiece and throwing hot coffee in her face. Smith's prior accomplishments include blowing off a direct order from a police officer after she improperly drove through a security checkpoint at Empire State Plaza in 2004, and biting a Brooklyn cop's hand in 1998.
As you might have guessed, Smith is a Democrat.
With McKinney on her way home to Atlanta, there is a gap to be filled in Washington. Smith's talents are being wasted in Albany. She is encouraged to run for Congress, where she can graduate to terrorizing Capitol police.

Now, be fair. At the level of local government the Republicans surely have a number of egocentric twerps like this. The difference lies in how the Parties deal with their kooks. The Republican Party, for the most part, tries to keep a lid on theirs. David Duke was (and maybe still is, although I hope his bile has killed him) a Republican, but the rest of the Party avoided him like the plague. The Democrats have a patters of lionizing their out of control, whack-job, race-baiting, nitwits - else how explain the political career of Al Sharpton?.
Ada smith has, thus far , been a local sideshow. If her party has any sense it will find a way to dump her before she rises higher. But if the Democrats had any sense they would be ..... Republicans.
BTW: You can tell just by looking at her; she walks with that self satisfied, side to side waddle the marks a certain kind of overweight petty functionary.

Park Day's gender-neutral metamorphosis happened over the past few years, as applications trickled in for kindergartners who didn't fit on either side of the gender line. One girl enrolled as a boy, and there were other children who didn't dress or act in gender-typical ways. Last year the school hired a consultant to help the staff accommodate these new students.
Good Lord. What do you bet those confused little crumb-crunchers are just reflecting their parents' neuroses, or that 'progressive' parents are encouraging little Emily to wear flannel and a toolbelt and little Berkeley to wear dresses and buttless leather chaps?
