"School of Americas" Glorifies Dictator's Pet Monster
Moonbats have heroes just like everyone else. The only difference is, moonbats' heroes are evil.
A classic example is Che Guevara, the homicidal thug who won progressive hearts by serving Fidel Castro as chief executioner. The latest moonbat to idolize this sociopath is Jose Rivera, who has written a play called "School of Americas" that portrays Castro's bloodthirsty henchman as a saintly wise man who passes righteous judgment on the USA for defending the fledgling democracy in Iraq.
Declares Rivera:
The things that Che says in the play are things that people feel around the world. Che said in the 1960s the greatest enemy of mankind is the United States, and there would be people who say that today.
Yet it doesn't seem that anyone would rather live in the hand-to-mouth totalitarian hellhole that Guevara murdered to make possible than the wealthy and free United States.
The play opens today in New York, where the liberal elite can be expected to bob their empty heads in smug approval. Rivera does not plan to put it on in Miami, home to many Cubans who have managed to escape the ghastly regime that Guevara represents.
Needless to say, Rivera is not Cuban himself.

"Defending the fledgling democracy in Iraq"?!!
Absurdity in and out. What democracy? Get a clue people, there is no democracy possible in the middle east. Even Israel is not a democracy based on your definition of democracy.
Iraq will be as democratic as Saudi Arabia is, Kuwait is, UAE is, or any of those oil rich countries are.
Iraq will become a modern day Vietnam, couple presidencies down, someone will pull the plug.
Che? Was he a henchman? According to your version of the history. Next you will claim that Native Americans committed mass suicides and left all the land for White Anglo-Saxons to inherit by God's will...
Che is probably laughing in his grave at your insecurities.

So, it would appear that DJ is another lefty whose heart goes all a-flutter in the presence of anti-American dictators.
Castro: Oh, he's so manly. You know, we on the left whine incessantly that we live in a police state, but when Castro throws his political opponents into death camps, or sends out a butcher like Che to slaughter entire families and villages, it makes us wet. It really does.
Saddam: Oh, he should have totally been left in power. Oh! the way he stood up to America and the UN. Oh! the way he diverted those oil-for-food billions into his own pockets and the pockets of his French and Russian allies! Oh, and the way he gassed those Kurdish women and children. He was our hero!
Arafat: Such a gentlemen! So refined! The way he robbed his people blind and buggered little boys. Jimmy Carter loved him so. And he mostly only killed J-o-o-s anyway, so it's not like he was killing real people.

If Rivera decides to make a career out of writing plays that glorify butchers that are heroes to moonbats, he'll have no shortage of material: In addition to Che, he can do Arafat, Mao, Pol Pot, Mugabe, Li'l Kim, The Shining Path, Chavez, Stalin...

Let's see Saddam - being prosecuted for killing 144 people and they are sking for a death penalty. It cost lives of 26000+ innocent lives to put him to trial. If each life cost a dime, noone would bother spending $2600 to get a revenge of $14.4. It is similar to burning a $100 bill to find a lost penny in a pit.
The rest - Stalin got money from the U.S. to rebuild his death machine in 40's, Osama was a result of CIA operations in Afghanistan to achieve ... What was the plan in Afghanistan in 80's again?
Bunch of countries hating one country vs. one country hating every other country, guess which one is the U.S. under Republic rule.

Gosh, DJ--get out much these days? Ever study history? You actually seem to pine for the days of good 'ol uncle joe. How about Ho Chi Minh? Pol Pot? You may want to check with some Cuban-Americans on your hero Che, as well.....

Well, natch, DJ is a leftie and to lefties, the USA is always behind all the E-e-e-e-e-e-v-i-l in the world. Whenever the fact that the people they support and revere are butchers and thugs is pointed out to them, they try to point the blame at America and spew a bunch of conspiracy theory nonsense.
Why, if it weren't for the presence of the Evil USA, Uncle Joe Stalin would be fondly remembered for his work making puppy dogs fluffier and laying the groundwork for the Kyoto accords. I mean, the New York Times reported that the Stalinist USSR was a paradise, and there were no pogroms, so it must be true. And Castro's Cuba, is of course, a place where human rights are respected and everyone lives in harmony and joy because of their benevolent papa, Castro... or, so I understand from the left.

You guys on this forum are full of yourselves that you've already heard what "lefty" says before he opens his mouth. He never said Saddam was a nice guy. What he is implying is that there's another Saddam waiting in the wings. Us going over there & bombing the hell out of the infrastructure isn't going to win over the hearts of a foreign nation's citizens. The problem with righties is they tend to view the world in black & white, when in truth it's mostly shades of grey. Does the US do nice things for third world countries? Well yes we do. On the other hand the American way or life will no longer exist when there are no more emerging industrializing nations to feed on.

Ah, leftist economic theory: Rich countries get rich by stealing wealth from poor people. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. A bit like saying, fat people get fat by raiding the refrigerators of skinny people. How can you get rich by robbing people who don't have anything?

V the k
Either you are a complete simpleton or you think others are too simple to understand some basic pricipals.
You don't rob the poor to get rich. You pay people "poorly" to get rich. Economics of scale. Take a look at china. So much of what middle class America buys is made there. So much in fact that they are doing pretty well. Well enough to build their version of NewYork on a breakneck timetable. How does that affect us? It drives steel & concrete prices through the roof. The American dream IS A DREAM!! Anyone can get rich, but not everyone. That's the sad truth.
The rich do feed off the poor. That is the business model. You can be a hard worker & make pretty good money. But it's impossible to get truly rich without using others to get there.

Ah, so rich people rob poor people... by giving them jobs.
Those bastards!
Posted by: V the K at July 7, 2006 12:37 PM
The implication is, of course, that the way to run an economy is to punish the rich, confiscate the wealth they've built, and distribute it equally among "the people" (with "more equal" shares going to members of the party).
Those policies are what have made Cuba, Zimbabwe, and North Korea the economic powerhouses of the world.
(Moon)Batman is to economic theory what the rabbit cage arsonist is to civil engineering.

Well kudos for picking up on the batman connection. VK
Sometimes the answers are a little too complex to fit on a bumper sticker.
There is no mention of tax tables in my statement. That implication is entirely your creation projected through your warped lens of reality. I don't imply sympathy nor disdain for the condition of the poor man. A person does not have to be evil or sadistic to build an empire. Conversly, poor people do not have to be lazy or unintelligent to stay poor. I don't know why YOU insist on bringing robbery into the equation.
I am not anti-american, nor anti-democracy. I just stated in a simple way how things work. Somehow me pointing out the shortcomings or maybe overselling of our system has landed me in the communist supporter catagory. I DO like my country. However many big businesses like the dollar more than their citizens. You don't go overseas to make money. Yo go overseas to make money faster.
V the K jumps to conclusions like fleas to a dog.

Snicker. The guy who shows up on a thread about a pro-Castro playwright spewing dopey class warfare rhetoric whines that someone would think he's a Marxist.
"Really officer, why can't a girl walk the streets at three in the morning wearing boots, a fake fur jacket, and a thong without people assuming she's a prostitute?"
Posted by: V the K at July 7, 2006 4:13 PM
Bangs head on monitor. Back to your black and white over simplified view of the world.
How we got around to "dopey class warfare rhetoric", as YOU choose to call it, is you trying to sell people on the premise that the United states is protector of all things good on mother earth. Bull. Us does a fine job of watching it's own back. Marxist? How is that? Just becase I laid out in the most simple terms how wealth is accrued, I am now labeled. I never said it was evil. Here I'll try & steer back on topic.
WAhoo for free speech! Even for people who say things I don't agree with. I am happy to live in a country where I will only be boycotted for speaking against our elected leader, where I can have a differing opinion an still keep my hands feet & head.

Chuckle. Biggest difference between right and left.
The left wastes time thinking of ways to fix problems. The right thinks of ways to blame problems on the left. My spew on economics stems from your misplaced belief the US saving citizens from their overbearing leader just for the sake of democracy. The goal of any Superpower is to stay a superpower. Period. While we are not so direct as the USSR was, we do attempt to install leaders & influence other nations for our own benefit.
Let me get back on topic for you then. The playwright is asking viewers to do see the world from a perspective outside of our borders. I'm pretty sure that can't happen for you. Pity. The funny thing about thinking you know it all is it makes it difficult to see the truth even when it's right in front of you. My apologies for towing the compay line in the wrong direction.
