President Bill Moyers

Giving an idea of just how far from reality the "reality-based community" has wandered in search of some means to justify its anachronistic existence, professional Bush-basher Molly Ivins is calling for a "reality-based presidential candidate": left-wing propagandist Bill Moyers.

According to Ivins, one of Moyers' qualifications is that he worked for LBJ during Vietnam — just like traitor, communist puppeteer and lawyer to the dictators Ramsey Clark. Moyers' contributions to the Johnson administration included supervising task forces involved in the catastrophic "war on poverty" and orchestrating the shameless 1964 campaign against Barry Goldwater. He personally gave the okay on the infamous "daisy ad," which implied that standing firm against Soviet imperialism as Goldwater advised would result in little girls getting nuked as they picked flowers.

Another supposed plus is that Moyers "is not afraid of being called 'unpatriotic.'" No kidding. Patriotism is hardly a positive quality in Moyers' anti-Christian, anti-capitalist and anti-patriotic "reality":

Not just religious true believers threaten our democracy. It's true believers in the God of the market who would leave us to the ruthless forces of unfettered monopolistic capital where even the laws of the jungle break down. And they're counting on your patriotism to distract you from their plunder. While you're standing at attention with your hand over your heart pledging allegiance to the flag, they're picking your pocket.

Ivins admits that Moyers is "no Holy Joe." That's putting it mildly. As Discover the Networks notes, he has raked in more than $20 million in taxpayer money from public broadcasting, yet refuses to disclose his income.

Moyers often manages to come across as a well-meaning avuncular fool. Actually, he is a vicious moonbat — as Ivins is no doubt aware. His hatred of Republicans is bottomless. He bitterly sneers at them for being "people who wrap themselves in the flag and sing 'America the Beautiful' with tears in their eyes." His nasty brand of propaganda is so far over the top that he was forced to issue a left-handed apology for falsely quoting former Secretary of the Interior James Watt as raving that "after the last tree is felled, Christ will come back."

Even Ivins knows that Moyers would never get elected, because few normal people could fail to be horrified by the concept of power in the hands of such a spiteful fanatic. But she gets paid to toss out wistful far-left fantasies. It's all part of belonging to the reality-based community.
