Mexican Leftists Imitate Sore Loser Dems

Taking a page right out of Al Gore's sorry playbook, leftist candidate Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador is demanding a full recount of the 41 million votes cast in Mexico's presidential race.

Yelped Jesus Ortega, Lopez Obrador's campaign manager:

We are convinced of the triumph of our candidate. We will demand a recount vote by vote, report by report, polling place by polling place.

According to a preliminary count, Felipe Calderon beat Lopez Obrador by 400,000 votes. But 3 million ballots weren't counted because they were incorrectly marked or otherwise appeared invalid. As in Florida, voters lacking the mental wherewithal to complete a ballot properly were assumed by the Left to be in their camp. But election officials say that even if the invalid ballots are counted, it would only reduce Calderon's margin of victory from 1% to 0.64%. Nonetheless, Lopez Obrador's party is demanding that all voided ballots be reviewed. Maybe they can find some hanging chads.

Despite Lopez Obrador's tantrum, Interior Secretary Carlos Abascal has let it be known that recounting each and every ballot is "physically impossible and also legally impossible." Mexican law does not allow for recounts simply on the basis of the election being close.

But as with Gore, Lopez Obrador probably knows that no matter how many times they count the ballots, he still lost. The point is to cast a pall over the winner's administration, granting fanatics in the opposition an excuse to challenge its validity. This contemptible strategy won't do Mexico any more good than it did the USA.

Is America's past Mexico's future?

Another country where the leader gets into power whilst getting the least amount of votes? Democracy in action!! Well done the US of A for showing the world how it works

V,
Take a junior high Civics class and then try growing up. Reasoning will improve and the five years of whinning will cease to exist.

It has been reported that Algore's Mexican cousin, "El Loco Recounto Electo Gore" has been dispatched to the Mexican Election Headquarters with a bag of tacos and and a baggie of pot to lead the recount.

Just call him, Andres Manuel Lopez Albragore... he's totally cereal about stopping ManBearPig.

Just to be fair to a recount demands, Berlusconni - yes, that right wing nut in Italy - demanded a recount after he lost to a "Communist" Prodi.

Go figure, liberals demanding recounts is moonbatting, right wings demanging is a fair voting process...

Except that nobody here was cheerleading Berlusconi, or whining and seething about stolen Italian elections. So, your strawman goes up in flames.

A better example is Christine Fraudoire, who after three recounts and on the strength of "enhanced" ballots, mysterious caches of votes found weeks after the election, and the strange phenomenon of more ballots being cast than there were registered voters in King County, became the governor of Washington. Many Republicans were upset with the results, and took the case to the Washington Supreme Court, where they lost. They didn't threaten taking to the streets in violent opposition, though... they just said, "Wait until 2008" and went to work.

There is nothing moonbatty about challenging the result of an election, per se, or even challenging irregularities where they are documented. But threatening violence and acting all deranged because your side didn't win ... that's moonbattery. Just like slashing the tires and vandalizing the vehicles of the other party's GOTV vehicles (like moonbats did in Milwaukee) or invading the other party's campaign HQ and breaking a woman's arm (like moonbats did in Florida) is moonbattery.

But VtK, don't you know that Democrats never really lose elections? Nope, they're always "victimized" by "stolen" elections!

The thought that the electorate may actually reject the whiny, intellectually bankrupt, soft-on-defense crowd (i.e. liberals) at the ballot box is just crazy talk!

Jonathan, alas, I forgot. Leftists never lose elections unless there is an elaborate conspiracy between Diebolt-Bu$hitler-Karl Rove-Halliburton, the Cub Scouts, and the Saucer People.

And the Watergate is about liberals invading campaign HQ as well, right?

"Stolen Italian elections"?

From what I read in the post, I don't see threats of violence...

You need to inform yourself better, DJ. AlbroGore's supporters have been threatening violence even before the election and continue to do so.

The rhetoric is getting more heated. On Tuesday, Lopez Obrador's campaign demanded a ballot-by-ballot recount. And Emilio Serrano, a federal legislator from the candidate's Democratic Revolutionary Party, said in an interview that violence is possible if the vote-tampering allegations are proven.

And the Watergate is about liberals invading campaign HQ as well, right?

It's comical that you have to go back three decades to find anything even remotely comparable to violence committed by Democrats in the 2004 election.

Not only that, but by a man who was probably more to the left than many people realise. Nixon started a lot of social programs that the left defend to the hilt these days.
