Iran's Strategy Is Working Well
Posted by Dave Blount at July 31, 2006 1:16 PM
Iran's strategy for distracting the world from its nuclear weapons program while simultaneously weakening Israel for the kill is simple. Their cat's paw Hezbollah hides amid Lebanese civilians while showering hundreds upon hundreds of rockets down upon Israeli civilians. When the Israeli military inevitably responds, Lebanese civilians are killed. The Western media finishes the job from there.
There is only one risk to this strategy. The mullahs in Tehran are gambling that the MSM will be stupendously depraved enough to play along. For the strategy to work, the media must ignore Israeli civilian casualties, ignore Israel's lack of any reasonable alternatives to fighting back, ignore the fact that all civilian casualties in this conflict are the result of Hezbollah's actions, ignore everything but the liberal elite's blind hatred of Western Civilization as it zeroes in on damage caused by the IDF.
Needless to say the risk was a slim one. The strategy is working perfectly. Even in Israel, the media is reading from Ahmadinejad's playbook. Here are some of today's papers, focusing relentlessly Qana:
The terrorists our troops are fighting in Iraq would be able to accomplish nothing without assistance from our fifth-column press. Iran is exploiting the same soft underbelly to attack Israel. As a result of the propaganda barrage, Israeli soldiers are already refusing to fight in Lebanon. By the time Iran has nukes — and it won't be long — Israel will be too eaten away from within by political correctness to offer any meaningful resistance to its annihilation.
Israel will be the Twenty-First Century's first Western democracy to cease to exist as a result of Islamic imperialism assisted by moonbattery. It won't be the last.
