Does Global Warming Ward Off Tornados?
Whenever any weather phenomenon occurs that can be characterized as the least bit unusual, it's quickly followed by a flood of global warming rhetoric. Whether it rains, or it doesn't rain, or it snows, or it doesn't snow, or it's hot or it's cold or the wind blows, we're given to believe this is fresh evidence that planet earth is doomed because the USA thoughtlessly destabilized climate.
If Americans are so all-powerful that we control the weather, at least we're doing a few things right. The Hastings, Nebraska office of the National Weather Service, which covers a part of tornado alley that normally sees up to ten twisters a year, is reporting that their region hasn't seen a single confirmed tornado for the first six months of the year for the first time since 1950.
I forecast that for once the media will neglect to hypothesize about possible global warming connections.
