Castro the Cowardly Comandante
Andres Oppenheimer regards Cuba's communist dictator Fidel Castro as "the least courageous leader in the region." It's hard not to agree, after reading his partial list of things Castro is afraid to allow:
- Free elections;
- Independent political parties;
- Independent media, or even independent thought on state media;
- Access to the Internet;
- His subjects to leave the country;
- Potentially critical foreign reporters to interview him;
- Foreign financial institutions to measure Cuba's crippled economy by international standards.
At 79, Castro may be a little old to acquire much courage. But since he won't be around long anyway, how much would it take for him to try to redeem himself for the death and misery he has inflicted on Cuba by holding free elections, rather than allowing the soul-crushing system he constructed to pass into another tyrant's hands?

Castro needs to see the Wizard to have some courage installed.
