Aztec Math

Michelle Malkin shines welcome light on some disturbing moonbattery emanating from the Bush Administration. Though W will sometimes grudgingly acknowledge that the border needs to be defended and immigration law enforced, it's clear his heart isn't in either task. What's less obvious is the extent to which his administration will play ball with hardcore Reconquista extremists, who are less interested in doing the "work Americans won't do" than in the demographic conquest of the southwestern third of the country.

The National Council of La Raza ("The Race") is no less racist than the Ku Klux Klan. At least the Klan doesn't soak up federal handouts. La Raza does. Per Rep. Charlie Norwood (R-GA), La Raza has devoured $30 million in federal grants since 1996 — more than half of it last year alone.

Some of the cash goes into charter schools like La Academia Semillas del Pueblo in Los Angeles, which teaches "Aztec math." Here's what the principal Marcos Aguilar has to say on the subject of assimilation:

We don't want to drink from a White water fountain, we have our own wells and our natural reservoirs and our way of collecting rain in our aqueducts. We don't need a White water fountain…We are not interested in what they have because we have so much more and because the world is so much larger. And ultimately the White way, the American way, the neo liberal, capitalist way of life will eventually lead to our own destruction.

Other charter schools run by La Raza that our tax dollars subsidize include one in Tucson called the Aztlan Academy. "Aztlan" is what Reconquistadors call the large section of the USA that they want split off from the rest of the country, after displacing other ethnic groups.

The Mexicayotl Academy in Nogales, Arizona openly focuses on race-based left-wing activism. Its program is "structured and developed around the concepts of identity, culture, and language." By language, I don't think they mean English.

In Pueblo, Colorado, the Dolores Huerta Preparatory High School takes its name from a rabid left-wing activist famous for screaming at students that "Republicans hate Latinos."

It goes without saying that helping Spanish-speaking students to assimilate is probably not a priority for these schools, any more than it is for La Raza. W's generosity with our money notwithstanding, the group is principally funded by the radically left-wing Ford Foundation. As Discover the Networks observes:

La Raza's politics are at the far left of the political spectrum. Its Policy Analysis Center lobbies for affirmative action, bilingual education, stricter hate crimes laws, mass immigration, and amnesty for illegal aliens. La Raza characterizes increased immigration control as a violation of civil rights, and the reduction of government handouts to immigrants as "a disgrace to American values."

La Raza is closely associated with MEChA, which it has actively funded. Unlike La Raza, MEChA doesn't bother trying to look respectable. It is openly committed to driving all non-Hispanics out of the Southwest. Their chilling motto recalls the Third Reich: "For the Race everything. Outside the Race, nothing."

Nonetheless, we have recently been subjected to the spectacle of Karl Rove publicly attempting to curry La Raza's favor.

As Malkin concludes:

President Bush pays lip service to immigration enforcement and assimilation, while the White House sends Karl Rove to make nice with the separatist leaders of The Race and the Bush Education Department showers our tax dollars on radical Reconquista schools. It doesn't add up.
Unless, of course, you're using Aztec math.
