Gore Sticks Another Knife in Joe Lieberman's Back

Joe Lieberman continues to reap the rewards for endangering his reputation for integrity by agreeing to run as Al Gore's running mate in 2000. Gore first repaid him when Lieberman ran for POTUS himself in 2004 by endorsing Howard "Dr. Demento" Dean instead. Now Al won't even endorse his "close friend" in his bid to hold onto his Connecticut Senate seat.

"I typically do not get involved in Democratic primaries," sniffed Prince Albert. It could be that he is too busy saving Gaia from the evils of human civilization to so much as say, yes I want Lieberman to win.

More likely, however, is that Gore is participating in the figurative stoning of the heretical Lieberman, who dared to observe the importance of winning the war in Iraq, and to highlight the significant progress we have made. Connecticut Democratic Party Chairman George Jepsen is endorsing Ned Lamont, Lieberman's primary challenger, no doubt because of Lieberman's unconscionable support for the war on terror. Fortunately for Joe, Gore is at least aware that his backstabbing would be a little too obvious if he followed suit.

Joe is among the deluded who think it was a good idea, and remains a good idea, to invade Iraq.

Not only is he out of touch with a majority of Americans, he is out of touch with his constituents, who are overwhelmingly anti-war.

The only people who seem to want Joe to stay in Congress are his buddies there and Republicans. If Joe is more popular among Republicans than among Democratic voters, and he is, then he should either switch parties or retire, because he is not representing his contituents honestly.

Lamont, running as a Democrat, would swamp any Republican challenger in Connecticut, and if Joe is interested in the seat remaining in Democratic hands, all he has to do is retire.

"If Joe is more popular among Republicans than among Democratic voters, and he is, then he should either switch parties or retire, because he is not representing his contituents honestly."

Oh, THAT'S rich. By that token TX's Republican Congresswoman Kay Granger, IA's Republican Congressman Jim Leach and TN's Republican Congressman John Duncan, Jr., who all voted against Resolution 861, ought to change party affiliation too because they're not representing their constituents honestly.

Basing Leiberman's popularity with Republicans on one issue is ridiculous. He only appears to be more popular because the Democrats threw him under the bus like they do everyone else who doesn't conform with their ideology point by point. Would that they were as kind to him as they've been to Jefferson.
