V the K passed along a link to some more health news that indicates where Western society is heading. In Scotland, a land at the cutting edge of liberalism, a 12-year-old girl is 8 months pregnant.
The daddy-to-be is a 15-year-old who accomplished the deed when she was 11 during a drunken night out in Edinburgh. As the little girl explains:
I slept with him because I was drunk and because I wanted to.
This sounds like a grim story, but there is some good news. She rejected a social worker's suggestion that she kill the baby. Her mom is very proud of her. Also, she says she quit drinking, and although she still smokes up to 20 cigarettes a day,
I can give up smoking at any time, but I don't find it affects my pregnancy.
She is reported to have quit school after repeatedly getting in trouble for fighting. But when she goes back, her mother will look after the baby in their council flat.
Bureaucrats are predictably responding with calls for still more sex education. There was a time when 11-year-olds didn't stagger home in the wee hours of the morning, drunk and pregnant. Maybe we should go back to the sex ed we had then.

I guess no one considered putting that poor baby up for adoption. How much you want to bet she'll be an unwed mother herself before she gets out of high school?
