Mexican Marshall Plan

They say that when all you have is a hammer, every problem is a nail. Democrats don't have many ideas other than their cardinal principle that taxes could never be high enough, but they do have the theoretically boundless piles of our cash their beloved taxes confiscate. Therefore the solution to all problems is to throw taxpayers' money at them.

Most everyone can agree by now that due to the demographic warfare it has been waging against us, Mexico is a problem. So it's hardly surprising that Thomas McLarty, who was Bill Clinton's Chief of Staff, wants to throw money at Mexico.

McLarty likes the idea of financing a new Marshall Plan, involving $20 billion in development aid over 10 years. The idea is that if you just sink enough money into it, Mexico's corrupt system will learn how to capitalize on its oil reserves. Gibbered McLarty:

If you had more development of the infrastructure in Mexico, more development of the resources there, it would bring more employment in Mexico and keep more of their best and brightest at home.

Hello, McLarty, get a clue. It is not Mexico's best and brightest who illegally sneak across our border with nothing but the shirts on their backs, willing to walk across the Arizona desert for the opportunity to pick lettuce, scrub toilets, and deal methamphetamines — any more than we got the cream of Cuba's crop when Castro flushed his prisons and mental asylums toward Florida during the Mariel boatlift.

As usual, government is not the solution, but the problem. According to Mexico's energy minister Fernando Canales, the reason they are not making the most of their resources is that international private investment is against the law. PEMEX, a national monopoly, must have control of all energy development per Mexico's constitution. Consequently much of their oil sits in the ground waiting for the moonbattery to subside so that someone can extract it, just like the oil in ANWR and off the Florida coast.
