Baghdad Jim McDermott Turns to Slick Willy
While the liberal media tears its hair out over the NSA's completely unintrusive data-mining operations, Rep. Jim McDermott (D-WA) reminds us that some people really do listen in on domestic phone calls — and for nefarious political purposes.
In 1997, a Florida couple gave the unscrupulous McDermott a recording of Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) talking on his cell phone with Newt Gingrich. At the time, Gingrich was Speaker of the House, and McDermott, hilariously, was the highest-ranking Democrat on the Ethics Committee. McDermott promptly leaked the recording to left-wing media outlets including the New York Times, which used it to torpedo Gingrich's career.
There are laws against wiretapping private conversations, as Dems would know if they listened to their own hysterical shrieking regarding the NSA. Boehner sued, and McDermott has been ordered to pay him about $700,000, almost all of it to cover legal costs.
The Jim McDermott Legal Expense Trust hasn't come up with the cash, so Big Jim has turned to a veteran at surviving legal problems, none other than The Slickster himself, Bill Clinton, who will appear at the Seattle Center in June to help raise some dough so they don't take McDermott's $781,000 house away.
I would wish McDermott luck, but given that the guy is not only a scoundrel but a traitor, I can't even refrain from wishing they would put him in jail for his illegal behavior.
With thanks to V the K.

Yes, it's only illegal when Democrats do it.
No laws apply to Republicans.

Is Baghdad Jim still in office? What do you have to do to get thrown out up there?
