Amnesty Floodgates Already Opening
Bush and the Senate haven't yet managed to push through an amnesty bill, but it's already having disastrous consequences. Mexicans know that amnesty is coming, and consequently are pouring across the deliberately undefended border faster than ever so as to establish residence and a work record when an "immigration reform" bill is passed.
According to Arizona state Rep. Russell Pearce:
Absolutely the numbers are way up, nobody denies that. And the draw is the promise of a guest-worker program or amnesty now being debated in Washington. These people are expecting to be rewarded for breaking the law, and Congress wants to go along with it.
Pearce estimates the recent rise in the invasion tide at 20%; it will shoot upward from there as an amnesty bill comes closer to reality. When Bush first outlined his "guest-worker" program in 2004, a Border Patrol survey of arrested aliens found that 45% invaded in part because thought they would get amnesty. Since then the invasion rate has risen steadily.
But there is a bright side. Eventually Mexico will have exported all of its poor to the USA, and will have to start invading with members of the middle class, who will presumably spend less time clogging up our prisons.
