Medical Moonbattery

Tanya Bainbridge, a 57-year-old former British sailor who used to be named Brian, was treated at taxpayer's expense to a £20,000 sex-change operation in 2001. Now he/she has been approved for a £2,500 procedure to have his/her tattoos removed because they make him/her feel "unladylike."

Miss Bainbridge has fathered 9 children by several different mothers, but now he/she lives with his/her boyfriend, both of whom are unemployed.

Meanwhile thousands of British nurses and doctors are losing their jobs in cuts due to the financial unworkability of socialized medicine, and Claire McDonnell, a 33-year-old mother of three, has been refused Herceptin to treat her breast cancer because it's too pricey. The cost would be £2,500 — the same amount taxpayers will be shelling out to make Bainbridge feel more ladylike.

If that's not enough insanity, here's more:

The USA, with the best healthcare in the world, is deliberately moving toward the dysfunctional socialist model. Crazier yet, Republicans are largely to blame. What Amity Shlaes calls "Canada Creep" has led Governor Mitt Romney to sow malignant seeds of socialism in the receptive soil of Massachusetts. Voters want all the "free" health care goodies Canadians supposedly have, not realizing that, in the words of Edwin Coffey, former president of the Quebec Medical Association, "access to a waiting list is not the same as access to health care."

As Shlaes observes:

Every year the Fraser Institute, a free-market think tank in Vancouver, British Columbia, produces "Waiting Your Turn," a survey of the wait times for various medical procedures. Romney might find it worth perusing. The average is 17 weeks, almost double what it was a decade ago. In Saskatchewan, the wait is 25 weeks.

The result is the flipside of Canada Creep: Canadians crossing the border to get timely health care. When our own health care system has been socialized to the point of uselessness, where will we go to get through the bureaucrats to a doctor?

Best healthcare? or most expensive?

Look to Europe my friend... despite major failings the NHS is free access to healthcare for everyone and UK is not a great example at healthcare - look at the Nordics

Let'em have it! What better way to show that it doesn't work period. As all the MDs move out of MASS it will just be a MESS proving the point once and for all!

Yes Lurch, European and, if you will, Nordic healthcare is free! In a pig's eye it's free! They pay through the snout! Just like you get a refund on your income tax OF YOUR OWN MONEY!

Yep - what better way to do it - everyone is entitled to healthcare - if you want to top up with a private policy then you can, but basic healthcare is provided..

Spend per capita and as a percentage of GDP still remain lower... and better healthcare

Here's your low cost National Healthcare!

Rocketing oil prices may benefit the Norwegian economy, but combined with environmentally minded taxes, the result is painful for Norwegian motorists. Norway can earn NOK 50 billion (USD 7.8 billion) more than budgeted for 2006, but experts fear that prices at the domestic gas pump can rise to NOK 15 per liter (USD 8.84 per gallon

Feeling unladylike? Well as far as it goes with 'Mrs' Feeling Unladylike it’s not surprising he’d feel that way since he is not and never will be a lady. He’ll always have male chromosomes, he’ll never have a period, never get pregnant and he’ll still have the possibility of prostrate cancer. All the hormone therapy and surgery is nothing more than reinforcing his delusions of femininity. In a way it’s like getting a 4wheel drive range rover with a bull-bar and winch and giving it a pink paint job, then removing the bull-bar and saying it’s a VW beetle, it’s not and never will be. And he’ll never be a woman.
