In all seriousness, the fact is that the Republicans, the thugs that have had a stranglehold on the American government for so many years, are so unaccustomed to being challenged in any way, that it simply doesn't take much to derail their arguments.

Intelligent people see one foolishness after another. They see the Republicans spending like drunken sailors, totally unable to cope with even the rudimentary aspects of foreign policy, the constant theivery, corruption, waste, and absolute disregard for life. And then an issue like the ports come up, and the Republican concept of outsourcing all of our security functions (a la giving private contractors authority over American troops in Iraq) and even turning over vital ports, and even sensitive military installations in California to ARAB countries through holding companies and multinational corporations, and, sooner or later, your average everyday working Joe is just DONE with them, and willing to run them out of town.

Why should any liberal, any progressive, any Democrat have to take responsibility for the havoc, the absolute ruin that Republican rule has inflicted on this land?

Unfortunately, to have to survive on the left in the United States these days is to have to cope with living in a world we never had anything to do with defiling in the first place.

So by your definition of intelligent people, hash, would you include the bumbling democrats who have can't get together on a single issue and have committed political suicide by straying as far away from the views of the majority as possible? Yeah, you guys only controlled the Congress for forty years before 1994. And since we all know that America was a utopia prior to 1994 (that first WTC attack the year before must have been a dream, as well as Beirut, plane hijackings, Cold War, etc.), your hands are clean...though the rest of you probably wreaks of patchouli!
