Mary Mapes Still Won't Let Go
Mary Mapes, the left-wing propagandist who got canned from CBS News for her part in Dan Rather's phony document scandal, is still out there, and she is still screeching that the forged documents with which she and her elite media friends hoped to derail President Bush's reelection campaign are actually genuine.
How does she explain the fact that everyone but her and the Dan know they're fake?
It's like a lie. If you repeat it enough, it is true.
No one would know this better than a former CBS News producer.
Mapes also helpfully explained why the MSM's journalistic standards have gone to hell in a handbasket. It's due to insufficient government regulation, and to the fact that broadcasting should be a privilege, not a means to make money.
The intrusion of capitalism into the MSM's sacred realm has another downside. By only seeing ads on programs they choose to watch, people vote with their wallets. They haven't been voting for CBS News.

Gee, think she might still be a bit hacked that her career got sacrificed to save Dan's ass? Or that she got even less airtime than St. Sheehan?

Maybe. I don't know that we will ever know the truth about those documents.

Yeah, I know what you mean, anonymous...we'll probably never know for sure who she got those fake documents from.

No, that was ME, prince...I accidentally hit enter before putting my screenname in.
What I'm saying is, too many people were paid off on both sides of that case. A lot of it WAS hearsay and unprovable, which is exactly why everyone walked away from it so quickly.
But that doesn't mean it wasn't a setup.
And it also doesn't mean that a whole lot of onlookers formed lasting positions based on evidence that, in retrospect, would seem to be distorted and illusionary.

What I got out of the article was her acknowledgement of her partisan political leanings, when she mentioned she was under attack from the right.
Guess her severance package wasn't as generous as Rather's was.

Sick Jack Bauer on Bill Burkett. Then we'd know who was behind those forged documents. My bet is that it was someone high up in the Kerry campaign.

On a similar note, it will be interesting to see what crawls out from under the rocks if MD's Lt. Gov. Steele decides to file a civil suit againt the dem. operative, who plead guilty to fraudulently obtaining his credit report. Lt. Gov Steele for use if he decides to run for the seat being vacated by Sen Sarbanes

Not likely, nikko.
If you think back to what Kerry's campaign staff was like, they 1) weren't all that pulled together to pull that kind of stunt off and 2) always operated under a microscope, to a point where the backlash would have been overwhelming (and expensive).

I'm guessing Harold Ickies (sp?) or maybe the DNC chair before Dean--can't remember his name, slimy little fellow that made a pile on some questionalbe stock deal.

Groan, not another Whitewater conspiracy theorist.
Posted by: moonbat supreme at March 28, 2006 9:35 PM
Whitewater? Yeah, THAT really held a candle to Abramoff, the ports scandal, and ol' hag Babs donating money to New Orleans charity-after diverting the funds to her own son Neil.
HA, HA, HA!
Yup, those are neocon business ethics, in full effect!

Whitewater? Well, I'm wearing a white liquid on my face, but it damned sure ain't WATER!
Yup, those are neocon business execs splooging on me, in full effect...and right after the big burly biker!
