Contrived Hypersensitivity Versus Freedom of Speech
The concept of freedom of speech would seem to be a bedrock principle of higher education. But despite the lip service it receives from most quarters, it is under siege by both moonbats and their Islamic allies of convenience. One favored tactic is to try to wash free speech away in a flood of crocodile tears.
At Oregon State University, a student published a piece in the campus newspaper The Daily Barometer pointing out that Muslims have expected special treatment regarding the Danish cartoon issue, that using the cartoons as a pretext to riot can be described as "savagery," and that "Bluntly put, we expect Muslims to behave barbarously."
Campus Muslims had no need to dispute the truth of the essay — all they had to do to make sure nothing like this gets published again was be hurt.
"Tears were flowing out of my eyes as I was reading," sniffled Nada Mohamed, Vice President of OSU's Muslim Student Association. "I felt like somebody was ripping my heart out."
The Barometer's Editor-in-Chief has announced that editors are now checking copy with Muslim students to make sure it's okay with them before publication, and that they have begun censoring material accordingly.
Imagine an America where nothing can be published that Muslims don't like. It would be the equivalent of having been conquered by Iran. But Iran doesn't have to conquer us — moonbattery is causing us to conquer ourselves on their behalf.
A similar tactic is being employed at Syracuse University, where a couple of students have demanded that Ann Coulter be prevented from accepting an invitation to speak there, on the grounds that allowing her to express her views would "directly infringe upon students' rights to feel safe and included in the campus community."
In other words, Coulter's opinions must be suppressed because they might hurt the feelings of those who disagree with her.
Needless to say, if Ann Coulter's insights make you feel like someone is ripping your heart out, no one is going to force you to go to her speech. But the very idea that anyone would be allowed to say anything they don't endorse on their campus is apparently enough to reduce moonbats to blubbering like Ms. Mohamed.
Freedom of speech is not something that can be won once and for all. Like our other most precious rights, it must forever be defended from relentless attacks, as campus kooks incessantly remind us.

"I felt like somebody was ripping my heart out."
Maybe you should try having your head chopped off, bitch.
"directly infringe upon students' rights to feel safe and included in the campus community."
I guess that is in the same amendment that contains the "right to a free education, right to free health care, and the right to be a complete idiot."

Feelings...
Nothing more than feelings...

I personally oppose any invitation for that anorexic crack whore to lecture anywhere, much less an institution of higher learning.
Ditto Michelle Malkin.
They are traitors, and enemies of the state.
They do not need to be given any sort of soapbox to spread their messages of ignorance and hate.

It's projection. I'm really getting in to this projection thing. People project their fears and insecurities on to others and then criticise them for it to make themselves feel better. The left, collectively, is openly committing treason, declaring themselves as supporters of an enemy that has vowed the destruction of our entire way of life. Naturally they'll feel guilt about this - they are,a fter all, as human as the rest of us. To assuage this guilt, they project the accusations of treason on to people who opposed their world view.
Replace treason with any other Lefty talking point and you get the same result. The left, in general (and remember this is generalisation, true in 95% of cases but not all), have no moral foundation, hence no firm convictions. Everything is open to "discussion", though in their case discussion means quashing your morality in order to win. It's the same with any group or individual that lusts for power and control over others.

Enelis, you are a wise one indeed! Game, set and match. Archonix as well.
Back to the student rag: are these folks so hypersensitive to the feelings of Muslims going to also start clearing material with Christian and Jewish students pre-publication as well? And all this sensitivity, for a religion founded on rather militant principles by a warrior prophet?
Remember the principle of abrogation, through which many if not most of the remotely "peaceful" passages of the Meccan suras are effectively negated by the fierely militant Medinan ones, which came later chronologically.

OK... I'll make you a deal. Anyone who expresses strong views like Annie or Michele, be they leftwing, righwing, Islamist, Christian, Atheist, gets banned from campuses. OK... deal.
Now that we've got a deal, we can go about firing 20,000 university professors, we'll have to get rid of about 5,000 or more "guest" speakers, and most student association will have to be disbanded, so, we'll have to restart all of those too. Hell, why not just shut down the colleges altogether as most loaded with blowhards who base their politics on opinion rather than facts anyway; as those of us who actually are educated know full well.
Oh... what's that you say Hashass.... you don't agree.... oh I see, it's just rightwing blowhards you don't like... but you like Islamofascist, Socialist, DNC, Media, Celebrity, and Lefitist blowhards. My.. we do have a problem then don't we.
I'll just stick with Annie and Michelle thank you very much; at least Annie can pen wicked satire and Michelle can debate most any self-styled leftist intellect into the dirt.
Cheers!

I like Coulter and Malkin. Both seem to be very bright people. I especially like how Coulter gets on the edge with her humor at times. She also has the ability to take the left's accusations and rebuttals with a grain of salt and a chuckle. After all, when you are debating someone that keeps asking themselves "What would Curly do?" it is not hard to win the intellectual side of the debate. And she can take a legitimate shot, but those are rare from the left. Malkin is great at reasoning and flowing through a debate and not being driven off the point.
I have seen a lot of Curly's slapsticking going on here the last couple of days.

I believe Coulter is too out-spoken for her own good and that of other Conservatives. Sometimes she speaks without thinking, providing Liberals with quotes for the rest of the year. But she says what others are thinking inside. And she has enough influence to be heard whether people like it or not.
So what's your problem? She provides you with fodder to throw back at any supporters, and she provides worthwhile opinions which are within the rights of any American.
hashfanatic:"They are traitors, and enemies of the state.

Malkin is well-informed, smart, and good at what she does. Hardly ignorant. While you seem to believe she is abusing her right to free speech, I think you're more concerned that she will be able to find the holes in Liberal schemes. And point them out to the rest of the world.
I'd go on, but don't want to post too long of a comment - especially since this isn't on the primary focus of the post.

Chreeist, now the crack whore herself is on with Drudge on the radio, gossiping about Jon Stewart.
This honestly sounds like overhearing two old hags with plastic rollers in their hair, at the laundromat.
These are supposed to be our opinion leaders?
God help us, we're doomed.

You know, I wonder if my senses are correct in telling me there’s a whiff of latent sexism aboutin this thread. Seems to me that besides espousing political views to which the recent Moonbat posters do not agree with, are Ms. Coulter’s and Ms. Malkin’s other “sins” that they are also two women, who probably are much smarter than they are?
