Shrillary Joins the Tinfoil Hat Brigade
Shrillary Clinton's efforts to reclaim the affections of the lunatic Left are becoming embarrassingly desperate. Not only did she join the pathetic campaign to filibuster the supremely qualified Samuel Alito, she has now officially joined the Tinfoil Hat Brigade by hysterically charging that W's failure to have New Orleans rebuilt already is the result of a Rovian conspiracy. The New York Sun reports:
SAN FRANCISCO — Senator Clinton told a largely friendly audience here Saturday night that the slow pace of government-sponsored reconstruction following Hurricane Katrina was the result of a deliberate decision by the Bush administration and may have been motivated by a desire to discourage Democratic voters from returning to the devastated region.
"I think that basically we are now watching a deliberate policy of neglect take root," Mrs. Clinton said during an appearance at a fund-raiser for legal services charities. "It is deeply troubling for any American to believe that your government would abandon such a huge part of our country and such an important part of our history."
Mrs. Clinton said she suspected that the assignment of President Bush's top political adviser, Karl Rove, to oversee the relief effort indicated that political mischief was afoot. "Cynical minds might suggest that the destruction of the Democratic vote in Louisiana was a mixed blessing. If you rebuild New Orleans, all those Democrats might come home," she said during a 90-minute public interview conducted on an auditorium stage by a former television host, Jane Pauley.
As OpinionJournal points out:
Wouldn't it be more cynical to rebuild portions of New Orleans that are below sea level and thus leave "all those Democrats" vulnerable to natural devastation, all for the sake of keeping them on the Democratic plantation?

Fox had a couple of close-up of her during the State of the Union Adress last night....she looked as if she had chugged a pint of 100% lime juice down.

You know, this time last year, I was seriously afraid Shrillary would pose a serious challenge in 2008. But, at the rate she's going, the best she'll be able to hope for is a kamikaze candidacy.

Perhaps, but on the other side, who might be the Republican nominee? Condi? Love to see her run, but she has repeatedly said she does not want the job.
As for Shrillary, the first thing that comes to might at the prospect of her being the Dem's nominee is, 'do you want THAT MAN back in the White House?'

During the State of the Union audience reaction shots Shrillary was caught on camera a couple of times clearly chewing gum. Or was she chewing her cud? (that's what cows do, for anyone who might not know.)
In any event it was gauche and disrespectful. Like Kennedy refusing to say Samuel Alito's last name properly during the confirmation hearings, it struck me as very likely being a deliberate action in order to show disrespect and contempt.
If I ever were so honored as to be invited to attend a State of the Union address, I'd not only get a grip on my manners but I'd rather not be seen on worldwide television chawin' gum. Or whatever it was she was obviously chewing on. Tobaccy maybe.
She is revolting and low-class at every conceivable level.

Honestly, at this point, I think the Republicans are going to wait til after this November before deciding who to run. If they have a strong showing, keeping their already claimed seats while taking a few more, then they might run a big name (I've heard Bill Frist mentioned once or twice).
If they manage to keep their seats without gaining or losing any, they might stray towards a more "moderate" name, such as *shudder* John McCain.
And if they hemorrhage seats, then they'll probably look at a practical no-name, such as a Senator or Governor from out West who folks hardly ever hear about. 'course, if they lose too many seats, then they'll have to fight off a Dem impeachment attempt at the same time.
As to Shrillary, I characterize it as a "kamikaze campaign" because she and Bill will take as many of the party down with them as they can. It's no secret that the Clintons have a good bit of Dem Party dirt, while the party leadership hates them with a passion. So, the farther she gets on the campaign trail (assuming she gets past Iowa), the more dirt will suddenly "pop up" for the MSM.

I'm sure Senator First is a capable person, but he does not make my pulse quicken, besides the record for Senators going on the be elected POTUS is not very good... less than five if I've recalled my history correctly, with the last one being JFK.

Like the tinfoil helmet, but this is my new favorite picture of Hillary.
