San Francisco Finds a Use For a Battleship
County supervisors nixed bringing the legendary WWII battleship Iowa to San Francisco as a tourist attraction, thereby taking a bold stand against the War on Terror, as well as the military's failure to promote homosexuality. But they might give the idea a second chance, now that advocates are promising to pair it with a privately funded dockside museum devoted to memorializing minorities in the military — with an apparent emphasis not on ethnic but on sexual minorities:
"Our feeling was that this would make it a better fit for San Francisco," said Jim Maloney, director of the Military Education Initiative, a group that supports the lifting of restrictions on gays in the military. "Adding in the component of LGBT service would be obviously quite unique," he said.
LGBT means lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender. Yes, a museum dedicated to transgender troops would be (hopefully) quite unique — and certainly a good fit for San Francisco.
The plan would also entail an "annual peace symposium" being held on the Iowa — no doubt providing an excellent opportunity for liberal blowhards to bash the military from one of the ships used to secure their freedom.
The gay angle is actually a little bit relevant with the Iowa. In 1989, a shipboard explosion allegedly set off by a sailor who was in the dumps over a failed gay relationship killed 47 crew members.
Says Maloney: "That's a story that deserves to be told."

Sh*t, if that's the best that can be done for one of the greatest fighting ships in naval history, then lets just sink the f*cker as an artificial reef. At least that would be more honorable than turning it into a new soapbox for the Left.

Actually, Van Helsing, the gay incident is probably a smear by the Navy, sad to say. See "A Glimpse of Hell" by Charles C. Thompson, which has many pro and con reviews on amazon.com.

Could someone tell me what a "transgender" is?
I don't think they mean hermaphrodites. Since men and women have different chromosone patterns, you would be male or female regardless of your dress or appearance.

Here's how Dictionary.com defines transgender/transgendered:
- Appearing as, wishing to be considered as, or having undergone surgery to become a member the opposite sex.
- Of or relating to a transgendered person or transgendered people.

I think the whole transgender thing is kind of an indication of where our society is at right now. We have people who are confused about their sexual identity, and the socially-acceptable response is genital mutilation coupled with flooding the body with unnatural chemical hormones to create a crude facsimile of the opposite sex. And anyone who suggests it might be better to at least try therapy to help the mind accept the body that it's in is denounced as a barbarian. That's so f*ed up.

Let me just say that aside of the fact that I totally agree with the idea of sinking the Iowa rather then letting it becoming some sort of perverse temple to sodomy and deviant behavior,
